My closet is organized by type and color.
Belts are hung on these cool hangers I got at homegoods, they are wood with metal hooks on both sides. I got one for my H also.
Pants are hung on the bottom left of my closet on pants hangers, jeans are folder in a drawer
Now that I live in FL I keep a lot of my winter stuff (I used to model for North Face so I have a TON of them) at my parents' house. Not my uggs though Cardigans/sweaters are folded in a drawer
I forgot about scarves! I have a scarf holder almost like the belt one I got at homegoods
Shoes...I have those stackable wooden shoe racks (that come in the flat box) from Target. H has some too.
I love how big our walk in closet is...I just wish H and I had our own! One day In our house in NC (the one we own and rent out while we live in FL) but my closet was painted hot pink

How do you organize your closet? - It’s separated by category. So jackets, shirts, sweaters, slacks– belts, scarves – skirts, dresses. I have extra stuff in drawers.
Belts – hanging over bar, all together, along with scarves
Pants – folded, on a hanger (some casual ones in drawers)
Winter clothes/Summer clothes in the off season? – When I have the time, I store them in big plastic containers above the closet.
Shoes – rack on the floor & then strewn all over the place
Aww, who am I kidding? All of my clothes are all over the place. They’re rarely where they’re supposed to be.
Walking in, on the left side wall is my dresses. There's a shelf above that usually holds my winter sweaters. I took those down and put them in a storage bag and now all of my boots sit there.
Facing the back wall is two racks with shelving on top of each one. Hanging is my skirts and all of my blouses, tees. Everything is organized by color. Jeans, workout gear, shorts and such are folded and put on the shelf.
The right side is a shoe wall. It holds most of my shoes, not all though. They are also color coordinated.
On the immediate left is a few shelves that hold all of our socks, undies, H's undershirts. We have GOT to get a dresser. It will free up SO much space.
I utilize the entire closet. Dh's stuff is in a separate room. But I also store our extra blankets, bedding, some craft stuff, school papers and important papers in there. Oh and all of our luggage is stuffed behind my dresses. ;D Hence the suffocation of the closet.
I sort by type of clothes. I have sleeveless, short sleeved, long sleeved casual, then again w/ the same 3 categories in dressy. Then I have cardis and blazers, pants, skirts, dresses, long sleeved tshirts and sweatshirts.
Belts - they are piled in a little round laundry basket on the floor Pants - hung on a hanger Winter clothes/Summer clothes in the off season? all my clothes stay in the closet all year long it's actually pretty huge and has plenty of room for everything and then some. Shoes - several different shoe racks along the bottom edges Anything you wish your closet had (besides it being bigger ) I wish it had more empty wall space so I could hang pictures and decorate it some. The one free wall in it DH has his hunting stuff. I need to kick that out and make it look more pretty.
Belts - on a belt/tie hanger Pants - on hangers... Off-season - I just did a closet overhaul this weekend so that I could fit ALL of my clothes into my closet together; I figured there is no point in taking up my very limited storage space (we live in an apartment) if I can fit everything into my (quite large) closet Shoes - heels go on a shoe rack on the floor; flats go in one of those hanging shoe organizers; boots lined up on the floor
My closet is actually a small bedroom (yes, my closet has a closet) that H generously agreed to let me turn into my dressing room. It's pretty great and I wouldn't change much; EXCEPT I wish there was room for a vanity. I'd love to be able to do my makeup in there.
The walk-in closet in the master bedroom is mine, my husband has all his stuff in the closet of a room next to the master.
All my stuff is out - all seasons. Everything is sorted by type and then color within those categories. Shoes are on shoe shelves, belts are on hooks, scarves are rolled up on a shelf. I have some hanging jewelry organizers with clear pockets for necklaces and bracelets, an earring tree, and little open boxes for rings and bangle bracelets. Headbands are in a mason jar, like a little headband bouquet.
My closet is organized by type, then color. So it goes: jackets - cardigans - vests - tops - leggings (draped over a stacked pant hanger) - shorts - skirts - casual dresses - fancier dresses - out of season clothes.
I have a couple of these fabric "sweater" boxes from Target -- one for each: belts, scarves, tights, and one for a couple nicer sweaters that I don't want to hang.
Shoes are on a shelf above my hanging clothes. Most are out of the boxes, but off-season ones are in the boxes. I keep all my boxes but some are in the basement. I like being able to see my shoes.
All my clothes are hung up except for a few sweaters, jeans, and workout clothes. I have 2 drawer sets below my clothes for socks, underwear, and tanks/t-shirts. My nicer shirts/tops are hung up though.
My off-season clothes are all still in the closet, but get rotated to the back end of it, and I have the stackable "hugable" hangers from BBB so I can consolidate those so they take up less space.
I want to do a better job about organizing my shoes, and utilizing the upper shelves in my closet more. I'm also thinking about getting another set of drawers for the bottom for my jeans since I just put them on top of the drawer set now. But overall I like my closet.

love, love the idea of these boxes (and the print). I was thinking of rearranging my racks but didn't want to be able to see what's on the shelves. This is a perfect solution!
Belts are coiled in a dresser drawer Pants hang on pants hangers, lower rod in the closet Winter clothes are in the back of the closet and move to the front in the colder months Shoes are either in an over-the-door holder or in boxes on the floor underneath hanging dresses
I wish my closet was not in an awkward L-shape. There's a walk-in part and then the tall hanging rod for dresses and long stuff juts off the back and goes waaaaaaaaay back there. And the opening is really skinny so there's no room to walk back there and see what's hanging, it's only wide enough for the clothes. Some stupid man designed my closet.
ETA: forgot to say everything is itemized by type and then color.
Belts: Hanger Pants: Hanger that holds 4 pairs Winter clothes/Summer clothes in the off season: Most of my stuff stays hung except for hoodies and sweats. Those are now stored in space bags. We got a Costco membership this weekend and bought a box of 14 space bags for $25. They work great! Shoes: Shoe cubicles. There are 6 shelves (3 top row, 3 bottom) I store by boots (nice boots on bottom, Uggs on top), tennis shoes, then heels (separated by color on the shelves)
Anything you wish your closet had: doors. We live in an apartment and it's like a mini hallway from our bedroom to bathroom. We hung curtains in front of them.
How do you organize your closet? (color coded, not order at all, etc.) I do everything by type (tops, pants, dresses, etc) then I try to organize by sleeve length (spaghetti strap, short sleeve, long sleeve, etc) and then by color.
Honestly, I layer a lot so I can wear the bulk of my clothes all year. I have all my sweaters and cardigans folded off to the side in plastic storage drawers.
Hanging clothes, from left to right: Dresses, pants, jeans, tank tops, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts/heavier shirts, winter vests.
On the shelf above that I have sweaters folded and stacked, work jeans, and dressy shorts.
I do not put away seasonal clothing. All of my clothes are out all the time.
Belts are hanging on a hook on the wall.
I have 2 shoe shelves (one for flats and one for heels). Underneath the lowest shoe shelf I have a tote of flip flops, my Uggs in their original boxes, and a plastic storage tote like the pp pip'd with tall boots.
What do I wish my half of the closet had? I hate to even answer this because this closet is lightyears better than the one at our old house. lol Maybe better hanging area for belts and DH's ties and perhaps a lower partial hanging rod for pants only so I can hang more shirts?
I have a dresser in my room, a closet, another smaller linen type closet in the hallway, and then another closet in a room I don't use (there's a lot of closets in my house). I have clothes in all these places.
The dresser in my room houses sweaters, jeans, shirts. I have one drawer with plain short-sleeve casual shirts and then another drawer for patterned short-sleeve casual shirts. Then in another drawer I have casual long-sleeve shirts.
The closet in my room pretty much has all the tops that I don't want to fold, including some sweaters; and it's color coded.
Belts - I have something similar to this
Pants - I keep my jeans folded in a dresser drawer - Nice pants I have hanging in the closet
Winter clothes/Summer clothes in the off season? - All of my summer clothes are kept in the smaller closet in the hallway
Shoes - I have a shoe rack in my closet, 2 underbed storage type bags and then an over the door shoe holder. I rotate summer/winter shoes in and out of the underbed storgage things
All of my skirts/dresses, other random pieces of clothing, are in the closet in the other room.

Belts: Hanging up on a belt/tie hanger with H's belts and ties.
Pants: Hanging up in order of fanciness and color
Winter clothes/Summer clothes in the off season? Just like Future ever since I moved to FL I don't have a lot of winter clothes anymore (whoo hoo!). I have saved a handful of sweaters, boots, and scarves to wear on the days where we have a freak cold snap or I'm going home to CT for Christmas. I have mostly summer clothes, and everything stays hanging up year round now that we have a huge walk in closet in our master suite. (another thing I love about FL and having a new build home)
Shoes: They're organized on shoe racks. I'd like to eventually get a built in to display them.
Anything you wish your closet had (besides it being bigger): I would like to get a little bench in the center and hang up a chandelier. Also the built ins for my shoes as I mentioned above. Other than that, I love my closet!
