I'm thinking I'll need to buy high chairs for the babies in the next few months for when they start solids, so I've started researching some and scoping out prices/sales.
Does anyone have the space saver high chair instead of a traditional one? I'll need to get 2, so seems nice to not have extra stuff taking up floor space but to instead strap them into chairs we already have, but not sure how practical these are.
We had that one and really liked it. We started using it early too, around 2m when she was interested in what we were doing and could recline in it at the table.
Ikea Antilop! Best $20 (x2) you will ever spend. So easy to clean plus the legs snap out easily so you can store it or take it with you on outings. I originally bought a $$$ one and regretted it once I got an Antilop for my parents' place.
Eta my 19mo still cant manage well in a space saver type, she always seems to be sliding around but maybe some are specific for young babies?
We had the Ikea high chair, which we LOVED, and I also had a space saver which we used as a booster for DS for a little while. The space saver is great too. I didn't use it in the infant stage, so I can't speak to that.

Fisher price healthy care booster, I love that it sits in our bar height chair, no taking up extra space and so much easier to clean than all the fabric on the the space saver! Love it
We have the Fisher Price Healthy Care booster and love it. It is inexpensive, all plastic so super easy to clean, and travels well too. We did have to wait for DD to be able to sit up pretty well before we used it, but I just fed her in her swing or bouncer for a few weeks early on.
I've used only a Phil & Ted Lobster Chair for DD, and I love it. We do have a table that can not be damaged by it, which is a consideration.
I stubbed my toe eight million times on DS's traditional free standing high chair and grew to loathe it. It was one of very few things I replaced with #2.
It depends if you will need those two chairs that will be taken up by the seats. If you want separate - go IKEA (but act fast, i heard they are being discontinued) and if you want more space - go with the Healthy Care boosters, much smaller, easier to clean, and travel better. They should be able to sit fine in either of these at 6 months.

Right now I'm wishing we went with the IKEA Antilop. Our chair has plasticky 'fabric' that can be a pain to get fully clean and babies are Realllly messy!
I did not go for a space saver type booster, because then I would lose a chair for use when we have guests and need to feed the baby, plus I felt like it was 2 things to clean. Or maybe it's just my kid. But when we used a friend's, food ended up in the booster and all over the chair it was strapped to. And if it's a fabric chair.. yuck. They basically have a destroyed chair for use with the booster. Obviously with 2, it might save a lot more space to use the booster though!
Anyway, I ultimately went with a traditional high chair that has a booster part that comes off the legs. We use the whole chair at home but can take the booster with us when traveling if we need to and it can sit on the floor or strap to a chair.
We have the FP space saver and really like it. It's great to just throw in the car when we're traveling, and it has lots of different settings for recline, booster, etc...
I really love our Stokke Tripp Trapp. So easy to clean, looks nice and he'll be able to use it forever. We replaced one of our regular chairs with it so it doesn't take up any extra room.
I am in love with the Boon Flair. It's my favorite baby related purchase. Even DH thinks it is the best: - it rolls easily. Didn't realize how important this would be for us. I can stick him in it and roll it over when I am doing stuff at the island, which is great. - the height adjusts. We don't use this feature as much as we thought we would, but it is nice to be able to raise or lower him depending on if we are pulling him up to the island or the table - the best part is how easy it is to clean. VERY easy to wipe down. No fabric style creases where food bits can get caught.
I like it but the tray is small. I didn't want to use a dining chair so I have it attached to a cheap wood chair from Ikea. I love that when we aren't using it I can push it under our island and it is out of the way.
We have the Graco SimpleSwitch and really like it. We keep the legs on it at home since our dining room chairs are kind of a weird shape and it doesn't fit well, but use it as a booster when traveling.

What am I doing wrong? While not a total PITA, my Stokke Tripp Trapp isn't exactly a breeze to clean. DD mashes so much crap into the wood. That said, I do love the way it looks and it takes up hardly any space. I'm glad I got it for free, though (hand me down).
VTdiamond, my friends who have twins have Phil & Ted lobster chairs.
My friend with twins has the space saver x 2 and she loved it. They don't have a big kitchen so it was a necessity for her. We're considering getting the healthy booster.

I had another brand but the same concept as the Tripp Trapp- supposed to be a high chair for babies and then eventually a chair for kids. So the idea seemed brilliant but I have the same problem, it isn't easy to clean I hate scrubbing the wood parts and if I don't clean it right away it gets crusty and then even harder to clean. I think it'll be great with a kid who isn't as messy but with a baby and then toddler it is a super PITA imo. It does look nice because it's the same wood as my table but no one cares what my house looks like, I just care that I'm scrubbing it all the time.
I have 2 space savers based on other twin mom recs. We never have people eat at our table so I was OK losing 2 chairs. Plus our dining area is tiny so having 2 high chairs would have been a PITA. I'm actually super excited to use them!

Hmmm.. maybe it's all relative. We got it to replace this terrible Graco wooden one with a million nooks and crannies and cloth pads, which was a giant PITA to clean. So perhaps I just think the Tripp Trapp is easy in comparison?
Ok what is the deal with removing the tray on the Antilop? I've youtubed it and still can't figure it out. Or I have the weakest fingers known to man, but I cannot do it!! It's a real pita.

We have this for travel, but ended up buying a second one and hanging it from our island. I love it! We also have the Stokke Tripp Trapp, which is more like furniture than a high chair. I might buy a second for Xavier since it seems E will be able to use it for a long time.
We had a Chicco Polly something, but it was clunky and took up tons of space.

I registered for this one (purely based on name ) because I had no idea what I was doing and didn't get it. It looks huge and like it would take up a ton of space if I had two, so I'm glad I didn't get it!
Sounds like I need to check out the Lobster chair.
The Ikea one is used in every single restaurant in Europe. I don't know what they will do if they discontinue it. We have an Ikea one at my parents' house and an old Nature's Purest one that we had kept from our first two and are using again.

Trying to remove the tray left me sweaty and cursing. So I don't and clean it on the chair as best I can.
