I've had a HUGE knot in my right calf for about 3 weeks now. I have stretched, iced, soaked in a hot bath, rolled obsessively with the foam roller, stick, and golf ball. I got DH to roll it. I'm wearing compression sleeved under my pants right now. I just can't get rid of it. It's aggravating my shin, and I have a 12-miler in the morning. Is there anything else I can try? I don't have time for a sports massage right now.

For tomorrow I don't have any suggestions, but in general you might want to look into dry needling. My PT did it on a knot in my calf. Hurts like a bitch but is effective.
Oh I had a wicked calf knot for weeks that was screwing my whole right side up. I have a 5" foam orb massage ball and I just kept at it- every knight switching between the roller and the orb. Last Saturday night I just felt this epic release in the muscle and it finally meted away. My right side feels amazing since then. I had sports massage on it and just kept working on it with the orb and the roller and the lacrosse balls etc. stretching bought me little relief. Hope you get fixed up soon- those knots suck!

Thanks, y'all. I'll just keep working on it. It's definitely a knot, from a long hilly training run. I hyperventilate just thinking about the needling thing, so that will have to be the absolute I can't even get out of bed resort.

Good luck! FWIW, I thought the pain was worth it, and I don't like needles. It's not constant pain, it's mostly fine with quick moments of STOP IT I HATE YOU (direct quote).
