I really wish upper middle class families in DC and PG would invest in their neighborhood schools to make them better. You are already paying all this money for a home (and tons of taxes in PG) and then you still send your kids to private. I mean I understand (I am considering it). But if there were a cohort of parents working to make the school better, then you could send your kid to school for free. And not have a crazy commute across town.
Come live in my neighborhood and send your kids to private school. Done and done. The old people will watch out for your kid!
My cousins lived in your area and didn't need private. They went to Deal and then Wilson.

And you're worried about having "old lady baby!"
You know I know about birthing babies, and your community knows about raising them. Get on it
I'm sorry. I don't mean to badmouth people's home. This is just not my place and I am feeling extremely homesick today.
It's temporary, though. I can hotel starting next spring.
I felt the same way when I was in N.C. and my family didn't seem to understand that I needed to go to MY home which was not in N.C. They couldn't grasp that though I grew up there, I haven't lived there ever as an adult and that is not home to me especially now that my mom is gone. Hopefully you'll get to your "home" soon.
Yes, exactly. Before we moved here we were living in MY place (not where either of us grew up, we just moved there). I have never been so happy in my entire life. I cried and cried as we drove out of town on the move here, but it was worth it to be able to take my current job.
And I really do love to visit DC. I have visited several times and had a fantastic time (and of course, I still do have fun). But it's not where I want to live. And then to pay this much on top of it is like, damn.
On the plus side, when I move back everything will seem practically free. "Why is everyone giving things away here?" I'll say.
