Hey ladies! I saw my my midwife today to talk about TTC. You guys, she was so awesome. I showed her a year's worth of charts and right away she noticed a temp dip around CD19 almost every other month. That info, combined with the fact that I never feel O pain on the left side makes her think that maybe I'm not producing enough progesterone when my left ovary O's.
So, I'm going this cycle for CD21 (will be CD20 since 21 falls on a Saturday and the lab isn't open) bloowork. We're testing for progesterone and a few other things like thyroid. If I'm not pregnant this cycle I'll go back next cycle for CD21 bloodwork to test progesterone again. If it comes back low I'm going to start progesterone supplements.
She also wants DH to go ahead and get a SA. I have the cup and info to set up a drop off appointment. (Any advice here? If your H has done this how did he take the news?)
Anyway, I'm just so excited that I have a plan. My next annual is in April so if we don't have any progress by then she said we'll discuss the next steps at that appointment.
Wow, that is great! That's wonderful, that you have all that info, and she had the knowledge to interpret. I hope the CD21 testing gives you more info. I took progesterone last month because I'd had spotting the two times I got pregnant this TTC (my OB was really just placating me, until I can see the RE), and just to warn you re: side effects, you'll need to use a liner, and it's common to have what is similar to early pg symptoms. I had super sore boobs, etc.
On the SA, we just went through this! H took it fine, just as part of the deal. He felt it was super awkward to do, though, and scheduled to do it when I'd be gone. He had a funny drop off story, that they say to keep it room temp, like on your lap. He thought that was gross, so he put it on his passenger seat with the warmer on low. LOL, H. His was actually abnormal in one area, so he did a re-test today. So, that was my warning to him - that I'd read on TB and here that if there's anything abnormal, they do a retest.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Glad she was so proactive and wonderful to work with! MY OB/GYN practically tossed my charts
As far as the SA, I just kept it easy breezy with DH. "Hey! They've tested me. To make sure they have the FULL picture, they need to see how your guys are doing. Just part of the process " I also offered to help schedule it for him, since making the phone call was already awkard enough for him. Although, this may not be an issue with your DH.
I've been seeing this midwife for my well woman exams for years but had never really talked to her about charting. I think she was impressed with my knowledge of TTC and how much research (obsessing/posting on GP lol) I had already done.
I also made the appointment for my DH for his SA. He took it ok, although he was embarrassed. I always go downstairs and do something while he's producing his sample. The first time he was really embarrassed when he handed it to me but now we make constant jokes every time he has to do it.
