We're not watching the Superb Owl, but we're going to make some apps and munch this afternoon. I think i'm going to put my baby in Vikings clothes to be ironic.
Somehow my eat leftovers and keep things simple plan totally went to shit. I've been cooking for 2 days straight. It's all simple stuff but it is still time consuming. We're having pulled pork, buffalo dip, bacon-wrapped potatoes, deviled eggs, and pickle dip. Oh, and I made brownies and bought cookies. Healthy!
H asked what time I wanted people to come over. I said six. He said "oh I'll just say anytime after 5." No goddamn it! I need to finish cooking, set everything out, take a shower, and put on makeup!
What is pickle dip?
It's actually something pixy0stix has mentioned a few times. This is my first time making it. I drew from several recipes and just mixed together chopped pickles, cream cheese, pickle juice, dill and a dash or two of Worcestershire sauce. I made it yesterday so it had plenty of time for the flavors to meld. It's delicious.
I also kept the brine and bought some whiskey in case anyone wants to do pickleback shots. Why is the Super Bowl on a work night?!
we were supposed to go to a friends' house, but the wife is sick so they cancelled. BOO!
The whole city is so decked out, it's amazing. Like, you can't go anywhere without seeing 12 signs/flags, people in Seahawks gear, etc etc etc.
I remain of divided loyalties, but genuinely think the Seahawks will take it. By 6. It won't be a big blowout like last year.
So, I'm coming up with last minute foodstuffs. I'm thinking of doing a pork roast in the crockpot to make into tacos, or doing it in BBQ for pulled pork. Or meatballs in teriyaki, because yum. We have some shrimps, so that'll work. We also have cheese, because that's an absolute game day necessity...
It's just kind of sad to watch the game just us, though.
We are currently watching the kitten bowl and Scarlett is using my old iPhone 3GS to take pics of the TV because of the kittens, lol.
I have a variety of junk food/appetizers for us to eat throughout the day. I'm making sausage balls, potato skins and brownies. Oh and wings. I also have vegetables and fruit so I can pretend like my kids will not eat terribly today.

Last night I made redneck caviar (black beans, shoepeg corn, Rotel and Italian dressing) and deviled eggs (which are just OK since I didn't have any pickle relish). I'll make a batch of parmesan garlic wings right before we go to party #1, and then before I get too many beers in, on to party #2.
It's just the two of us today and while neither of us are super into the game this year, it is an anniversary of sorts. We met when roommates of mine brought me to the Super Bowl party thrown by my (now) H - all the way back in 2000. So we'll be having chilli dip (different than regular chilli) and cider while only half watching the game.

There's a kitten bowl too?
We are walking over to a friend's house for the game. Fingers crossed that DD falls and stays asleep in the stroller when it's bedtime. If not, oh well, we will just walk back home if she goes apeshit.
I made the mistake of stopping at the supermarket this morning. My God.
I just made a half hearted attempt at finding a sitter so I could meet DW out for drinks. Doesn't look like it's going to happen which is okay by me. I'm not feeling 100% and while DW is out I can catch up on crappy tv she hates.
Don't you just love how it's like "And for today's weather we're having a blizzard. Be careful driving to your parties today." but for an entire week before the east coast got hit out was "WHITE STUFF FALLING FROM SKY FIVE DAYS FROM NOW! ZOMG! TRAVEL BAN! SHUT DOWN FREEWAYS!"
We've got sweet chicken bacon wraps going on here and I'm going to make some sausage dip in a little while. I made navy bean soup for dinner, though. This is a lot of food for 3 people.
