Nature hike got a whole new meaning when a San Diego Cub Scout troop wandered onto a nude beach recently.
The troop was hiking in Torrey Pines State Beach in California last month when they "encountered some individuals who were inappropriately dressed," according to a statement from Karl Shelton, the camping director for a San Diego chapter of the Boy Scouts of America.
Local news reports identified the beach the troop had mistakenly ventured onto as Black's Beach, a naturalist or nude beach located below the Torrey Pines bluffs.
The group of scouts, parents and adult volunteer leaders "quickly rerouted to protect the youth," Shelton said in his statement.
The Council and Pack leadership met with parents after the hike and concluded that "proper protocol had been observed and appropriate steps were taken in this matter," the statement said.
Parents of troop members could not immediately be reached for comment by USA TODAY Network.
I knew it was Black's! I've only been once but I feel like it was harder to get to than that makes it sound.
Its a total PITA to get to because you either have to wait until low tide and hoof it along the coastline or hike down that narrow ass 'trail' cut into the side of the cliff. I'm betting that the scout leader knew exactly where he was taking them! You don't accidentally end up at Blacks Beach!

OMG too funny! It reminds me of the time in HS I was on a date and the guy let me choose the beach. Not knowing Sandy Hook well (despite it being 10 minutes away from home) I accidentally took him to the nude beach. Pretty sure he didn't think it was accidental since I never heard from him again!
