For all the posts on toddler travel, I couldn't find this information in my search...
We will be flying with my 2 year old. Our flight leaves at 730 am so we'll be leaving our house at 4 am. The kid typically doesn't like to eat for the first couple hours he is up. Well, we're not waking him up at 2 am. Anyhow, i bought some of those pouches and we're packing a smoothie/milk for him to drink on the way down to the airport. Last time we flew that early the restaurants weren't open yet at the airport, so that's my concern (and I'm pregnant and need to eat as well)
Will kid snacks or the pouches be allowed?
I also have some of those shelf stable milk containers. Will we be able to take a couple of those through security? This was easier when he was an infant and I had my boob.
We flew from Toronto to the UK and back when DS was 2. Neither direction posed any challenge for pouches, apple juice boxes, and sippy cups of milk.
When DS was 4 months and 7 months I was EPing, and for 8 flights I took BM in bottles, frozen BM with ice packs, and a bottle of water with extra formula in case (we had a stopover in each direction, and pumping alone in an airport with DS wasn't going to be easy if we were delayed or missed our connection). Very few questions even, and no difficulties. These were all domestic flights w/in Canada only, but again, the UK one above wasn't.
I flew over Christmas with shelf stable milk no problem. Just pull it out before the X-ray. One leg they just swiped my hands. The other required a pat down of one of us (DH took one for the team). No need to open them.
When we traveled with j I had containers of coconut/oat milk and pouches. One airport just swabbed them, another demanded I open them all. I told them no way because if I opened them they would spoil so they made me go through a huge ordeal of extra screening for myself, j, my shoes, our bags, every single pouch and bottle etc. It took probably 25 minutes total. It was a huge pita But we didn't have a choice. We had to/have to travel with that stuff because of his allergies. I couldn't risk him having nothing to eat or drink at 15mos old!
When we travel later this year I will again have to bring that stuff eith me and I will just plan on it taking extra time in case that happens again.
