DS will do some traveling in the next year or so and he has plenty of toys so I thought it might be a good option for b'day gift from grandparents. I guess I want something that would last a few years and can be used on plane or in car and has wheels and could be pulled by DS. I know people like Pottery Barn but are there other brands or less expensive options people like?
Second trunki! My kid (3yo) doesn't even travel many place but my sister got him one when we moved. He loves it. And it's fairly indestructible - he's tossed his down the stairs multiple times.
Of course if your DS is older, it might be a little too young for him if you want it to last several years.
We have the PB one! And DD drags that thing everywhere including walking down the sidewalk for Grandma's for two hours. It also works great for long weekends because her stuff actually fits in it and she can find it easily enough.
It has to be sturdy too. My sister bought it at a garage sale 2 years ago and it looked to be in good condition. It still is and who knows what happened with it before we got it.
We have the PB one. It has traveled to many destinations with us and is still in great condition after 4+ years of use. DD is almost 7 now and I don't anticipate her outgrowing it anytime soon.

Which size do you have? I think I am finally going to bite the bullet and get suitcases for my girls because I can't keep trying to squeeze stuff for three kids into mine.

We just have the carry-on size one, but I've been able to fit clothing for both of us in it before. It's the right size for DD to wheel through the airport on her own.

I bought a small adult cheap carry-on set from Menard's. It's a roller bag, duffle bag, and briefcase shaped bag. DS1 LOVES it, especially since it looks just like ours (except his is royal blue). He's able to roll it by himself & it has held up well.

Omg why didn't I know about Trunki at Christmas! So a 4 yr old will still fit on them? Would they be too heavy for an adult to pull one if a 4 yr old is riding on it?
