If your kids were further apart, 4+ years or so, did you keep the baby gear from the first kid and store it for the next kid, or did you get rid of stuff?
We have the rock N play, jumperoo, infant seat and bases and that sort of thing sitting in our house. We are unsure of whether we will have another and if we do have another kid, they will probably be 4-5 years apart.
The longer we hold onto stuff the more I want to get rid of it. We're still unsure if there will be a second and I would prefer to get rid of the bulk so it's not staring me in the face every time I go to the basement. MH wants to keep it all.
We got a new car seat and stroller ( car seat was expired and we didn't like our stroller). We never had an RNP the first time so we got one of those. We kept our swing and jumperoo.
We got rid of everything except for the pnp. Mostly bc we Were oad for a whole and bc we Didn't have the storage space. Idk why we kept the pnp. Maybe we forgot about it?
We got rid of almost everything except the crib, the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper, the umbrella stroller and the FP Space-Saver high chair. The last two items I mainly had because a few different friends with younger kids have traveled to visit us and it was useful to have those things around for their use. I lent out The Co-Sleeper between kids. Now that DS is in his crib, it's with a friend who is due next month.
This time, I received a bunch of gear as hand-me-downs, including the bucket car seat, play mat, swing and a stroller with the bassinet attachment. I bought a couple of other things with gift cards from friends who specifically wanted me to use them towards gear.
I also bought a new convertible seat that I hope will last through more stages (Graco Milestone).
Our kids have a 3 year age gap. We gave everything away from kid #1. At the time, we weren't sure we wanted another baby at all, and did not have the space or inclination to store anything.
We are lucky, DH's BFF's daughter is almost 2 years old so she's outgrown everything. So we're borrowing all her gear for our baby #2.
For our first we didn't have a bouncer, rnp or jumperoo so I bought those at a consignment for #2. Reused high chair, cosleeper, tub, jogger stroller. Loaned swing out and didn't get it back so bought at garage sale.
Got new monitor and car seats and wanted a new stroller.
It was tempting to get all new stuff because gear changed so much in five years. Which is why I got a new stroller even though I had a perfectly good one. If I were to have another big gap I would sell all the big stuff Knowing I was able to replace at a good price at our consignment sales.
We kept a lot of things (jumper, swing, packnplay, crib, carseat, etc) but then there were some things that we decided to either upgrade based on our last experience (video monitor) or replace (bouncer chair that was stained.)
Also, I had never heard of the RNP before. That was our first purchase, lol. If you have room to store the items, I would do that until you've made a decision for more kiddos (or not.)
We kept the crib and one stroller. Everything else we passed on to other friends. When I got pregnant with my 3rd, people offered us their hand me downs, which I gladly accepted.
We still have almost everything except some clothes we have to SIL and a couple friends. We always knew we wanted a second, the age gap hasn't been intentional.

We kept most of it. We bought a new crib for kid #2 because kid #1 had the now verboten drop-side crib. That stuff's expensive if you have to re-buy it all.
The way things are going right now, IF we have another kid there will be a 3+ year gap. Thank you 8lb6oz baby Jesus that my parents have a basement crawl space with more room than they can ever need and don't mind storing our extraneous baby crap down there when it's not being used by my sister (who is due in 24 days, squee!). I'm happy to lend stuff out until we need it again in general though, for example J's BFF and his wife borrowed our RnP for their daughter until recently.

My kids are about 4.5 years apart. Yes, we kept it ALL and it was worth it.
My infant carseat has now expired, so I'll need to replace it for baby #3, but we plan to re-use everything again this time. Then I can't wait to get rid of everything.
We kept everything. The first 3 were 2 years apart. I donated everything 2 months before finding out about the 4th. She is 6 years younger. I kept it, hoping For her. So we started over just for her. We will donate it all again I guess.

DS and DC will be 4 years apart (or well almost). We kept everything, but I have to double check the car seat because I am not sure if it has expired or not.
I'm getting rid of big stuff but saving a few of the better toys in case we have another. But I'm not keeping a swing, RNP, or jumperoo around. I figure by the time we have number 2, there will be all kinds of new shit I'll want to buy.
This is exactly my thinking on it. If it doesn't take up much space and I really liked it, I've kept it (the Hape Wonder Walker is an example, or the adorable Haba clutch toys), but big things with good resale value? Sell on Craigslist.
We will be 4y2mo. We kept everything, knowing that we would have another at some point. I'm so glad to have it all. It worked out that we are having same sex & pretty much the same season, so we get another round out of clothes, too.

We weren't initially going to have a big space, but we ended up with 5years. The only thing we got new was the rock n play (because it didn't exist with L) and a carseat (because Ls was close to expiring).
L gets a kick out of us using stuff that she used and I liked not having to spend the money again.

My kids are 3.5 years apart and I reused almost nothing except for a couple swings/infant bouncers. The crib was recalled, the car seats got old and musty in the basetment, my kid destroyed the pack n'play ...
I say do what makes sense depending on your storage situation.
