Random I know, but we're exploring the possibility of going there in late April. I'd love to hear any thoughts anyone has on traveling there, highlights, etc.
I'm watching this thread. We're going in June (as a stop over on our way to Italy). We'll only have a couple of days in Copenhegan, and so far the only thing on my list is the open air museum. (It should be awesome if it is anything like the one in Stockholm)
We were in Denmark a few years ago. Loved it. Copenhagen keeps coming up as a vacation contender with DS because it was such a family friendly city.
Tivoli is a must. Google it. It's an amusement park with a lot of history, right in the middle of the city. In the colder months they put wool on the outdoor seating. It's just lovely. They also have outdoor ballet performances - direct from storybooks.
The air was crisp, the street vendors had hearty food (bacon wrapped sausages!), you can see crown jewels, shop, and eat on a budget or high end. Many of the hotels offer a hot meal in their breakfast area around dinnertime. Stews, etc.
You have to go. It's a magical place. I can't wait to take DS.
You can do most of the city by foot. A day trip to Sweden is possible.

Very much, but there's even more to do, IMO. Copenhagen is a busier city than Stockholm. You've got the history and culture, but Copenhagen is a little more metropolitan.
I would say in order of "bustle" ...
- Copenhagen
- Stockholm
- Reykjavik
- Helsinki
I haven't been to Norway, so I can't include that. heh

H and I went about 6 years ago when SAS first started flying out if Seattle. They were having a special and our tickets were less than $1k total.
We met locals our 2nd day there and they ended up taking us around the city. This was over Thanksgiving, and on our last night there, they made us a traditional Danish Christmas meal.
It was a very fun time. Sadly, there is so much world to explore that I do not know when we'll make it back.
I went as a kid, twice. We went to Legoland, Hans Christian Andersen's house and Tivoli Gardens. It was awesome!

Seriously though, I would love to go back. We already lived overseas, so it was easier at the time.
I went there as a child as well, and I only remember Tivoli.
Same. The Legoland there was 1000x better than the ones here ( in FL and ATL). It could be my childhood nostalgia, but I was disappointed at the ones stateside.
I loved it. We lived in Germany at the time and drove there though.

Good to hear! I'd say Oslo is between Stockholm and Helsinki (and I haven't been to Reykjavik).

I have been as a kid. I loved it! I think most memorable for me was Ripley's Believe it or not museum I was 8.... I cannot wait to take the kids! It's on our short list to take them.
