How are you and your SO doing? Feeling like I really have a handle on things. I had a huge turning point after his 9 month check up, when the pedi told me to go home and start CIO that night. It was a Friday, and she said by Wednesday I would feel like a new woman. She was SO right! It's been a month now, and it's amazing how much a decent night's sleep can help everything fall in to place. I still feel like the bulk of everything falls to me, and I told DH that this weekend I'd really like to talk about division of responsibilities because it really irks me to be washing dishes, taking out the trash, prepping bottles for the next day, keeping DS out of the trash can all the while DH sits there on some guitar message board! (just a random example and not at all what happened in our house tonight )
Is your LO walking yet? He's a cruising machine! He walks pretty steadily with a walking toy. He can stumble and get back up, which is a new development. I'd say he'll be walking on his own very soon.
How many teeth? 4
What new things has LO learned lately? Cruising and reaching for things off of tables are the biggest past times right now. WE are learning a lot, like do not keep cans of Coke within a foot of the edge of a table because they'll end up spilled all over the carpet. Any words? Mamamama, Dadadada How is sleep? See above- it's so much better! Even while sick, he's been pretty consistent. He seems to be taking one longer nap as opposed to two shorter ones, but I'm not sure if that's just because he's been sick or if that's his new thing. What is baby eating these days? Still on purees (stage 3) and puffs. He was diagnosed with an egg allergy a few weeks ago, and has had other unexplained reactions. I'm apprehensive to try new things. He also has interest in our food, until we put it on his tray. It's probably my biggest concern, that, and the fact that he has 0 interest in a sippy cup. What is the hardest thing about having your 10-12 month old? He's so curious and he's in to everything! We were joking that we need to buy a pub table because we're running out of places to put things like my purse, DH's work bag, his laptop bag, etc. because he's just getting to be so good at reaching out for those things he wants. Also, with his allergy and skin issues, there are a lot of things we have to do that he doesn't really like, and I hate that struggle. What is the best thing? Running my fingers up and down his back or belly and getting the most adorable laughs out of him! Hearing his DC teachers gush over him and tell me he's always "so good." It gives me hope that he'll be an easy going little boy, too. Anyone wanting to TTC or already expecting? Our plan is to start TTC this time next year. I think 2 years + a few months will be a good age gap. However, we keep hearing about people who had a baby around the same time we had DS who are already pregnant again. Whenever we hear that, we both look at each other and say "No, it's NOT time for us!!"
Anybody else still not gotten their periods back yet? Nope- mine came back at 3 months PP.
i have no idea where R falls in the realm of just slower at developing vs. needs early intervention, but he's definitely behind all of his irl baby friends his age and i see a lot of kids on here that are younger than him, but more advanced. it's so hard not to compare and not to worry, yet if he is behind enough to require intervention i definitely want to be proactive. the earlier they get help the easier it is to catch up.
my biggest source of worry with R are motor skills involving his hands/arms. we get an ages and stages book from public health that have lists of skills at various ages and he's not scoring well at all in the 10-12 month range. i set up play to work on those skills as much as i can and hoping for the best at his check up in a month.
So more of the fine motor skills? That's good to set up play for him to work on that. I sometimes try that with DS and crawling but it's hard. I sometimes pick up his stomach off the floor and try to move his hands and legs. That does not go over well, lol. It's amusing to watch though. Let me know what they say at his check up, and I'll let you know how Friday goes.
yeah, at this point it's more of the fine motor skills i'm noticing (or rather, not noticing). i'm hoping with intentional play we can at least improve before his appointment. and i realize a month is a long time for development so i could be worrying for nothing.
definitely let me know how your appt goes! have you had his 12 month check up already? did you doctor suggest you do an EI evaluation or can you request one yourself?
What is the hardest thing about having your 10-12 month old? He's been sick for the past couple of weeks so that's been rough What is the best thing? His smiles, giggles, and just the way he progresses and learns every day.
Anyone wanting to TTC or already expecting? Anybody else still not gotten their periods back yet? Mine just came back right before the ten month mark. Right when ds was in the hospital, of course. Haven't decided on ttc yet as it's been a rough go for us, but at my age, if we don't do it soon, we won't be able to.
What is the hardest thing about having your 10-12 month old? The fact that I really can't get anything done when she's awake. I can put her in her "pen" for short periods of time, but if she's out and about, we have to watch her every second, especially because she undoes a lot of our babyproofing efforts. She rips all the adhesive stuff off the furniture Also, she's starting to become impatient with being fed, but she's not very good at feeding herself. She starts clapping her hands in front of her face when she doesn't want to be fed anymore, so the food ends up all over her hands, then inevitably all over her face and hair lol
Lol DD does this and then pulls at her hair which makes her look a bit like Ace Ventura
heygrey, I called EI myself. The doctor wasn't concerned that he wasn't crawling at the nine month appointment (and neither was I), but as I started to notice more of his peers doing it, I started to get concerned. I called right around the 11 month mark because I didn't want to wait until his 12 month appointment to start the process. I'm glad I did because it could have been even slower to get the evaluation (they called back the same day when the first person to take my call said it could be up to ten days). It will be almost a month from the time I first called to his evaluation.
What is the hardest thing about having your 10-12 month old? the sleep problems. it's really getting to me because when it was hard as a newborn/6 months/9 months i kept telling myself it had to get better eventually and kind of set 12 months/me going back to work as that magical future day. we're staring down that milestone and it's definitely not happening. so now i'm kind of hoping for 18 months. it will be better then, right?
I'm right here with you. I swear it was easier when she was a newborn. It would get better and now it is probably worse than ever. I gave in last night and put her directly to bed with us for the first time ever. We finally slept some and I moved her to her bed after she had her MOTN feed at 3am. *sigh* Not what I wanted, but 10 months of crap sleep is wearing me down.

Anyone wanting to TTC or already expecting? Anybody else still not gotten their periods back yet?
Almost 10 months.
Well, he's finally home which is awesome! We are currently in a readjustment phase but generally are doing quite well.
Not yet. He pulls up on everything and will push whatever it is (chair for example) and then shuffle his little feet to catch up. Yesterday he went from holding on to the ottoman to the couch for the first time.
4 teeth are totally in with two more on the way.
Clapping, waving, playing peekaboo (if I say, "where's L?" he puts his hands over his face then dramatically opens them and giggles when I say " peekaboo!) It's so cute! He says lots of things that sound like words (mama, dada, book) but I don't think he gets it just yet.
Sleep has been crap! Up every 3 hours and usually for an hour or so around 4:00. Crap naps of 45 minutes. Although last night was great with just one quick wake up. Who knows what tonight will bring?
Everything and anything! He's been on three meals plus snacks of table foods for awhile now and he does great. There hasn't been anything that he's rejected. I'm sure that will come later! Still nurses about 4 times during the day and 1-3 times overnight.
Definitely sleep has been the hardest. Waking up every 3 hours with a newborn is one thing but to still be doing it almost 10 months later is really tough. Everything else! He is such a happy little guy and such a joy to be around these days. I love that he is turning into a little person with his own awesome personality.
Absolutely not TTC right now. Period came back at 5 months despite EBF round the clock but we won't be TTC until the late summer or fall.
How old is your LO? 9.5 months -How are you and your SO doing? We are great. -Is your LO walking yet? Not even crawling. Just army crawls. I guess I should be concerned.
If your doctor isn't concerned, don't worry about it. There is a very wide range of normal for crawling and some babies never do a 'proper' crawl.
How old is your LO? 11 months this Sat -How are you and your SO doing? bedroom life is not really happening. Otherwise everything has been great. -Is your LO walking yet? Nope, just she learned to crawl last month. She is pulling herself up. -How many teeth? still zero! -What new things has LO learned lately? she is pointing at things, though not in context. -Any words? Dada, but not in context. -how is sleep? Still wakes up 1-2 times a night. Sometimes to feed. Sometimes just to get rocked back to sleep. -What is baby eating these days? I am still nursing. Greek Yogurt, cheese, pouches, avocado.
What is the hardest thing about having your 10-12 month old? Making sure she is eating. She is under 3rd % for weight. What is the best thing? Hugging and kissing her!
How old is your LO? 9.5 months -How are you and your SO doing? Doing well -Is your LO walking yet? Nope, he loves to stand and is starting to cruise -How many teeth? 4, with a couple more on the way -What new things has LO learned lately? Clapping, waving -Any words? mama, dada, lots of babbles, we swore he said kitty the other night -how is sleep? Still wakes up 1-2 times per night. -What is baby eating these days? What doesn't he eat? I feel like I am feeding a teenage boy. He is also still nursing
What is the hardest thing about having your 10-12 month old? I don't know, I really enjoy this stage What is the best thing? Seeing how excited he gets when I pick him up from daycare, watching him light up when H comes home at night
1. DD is 10 months 2. I feel very much like roommates these days. We get along but it's just not the same. 3. She just started crawling a month ago, no cruising or standing really yet. 4. 4 teeth 5. She's learning how to throw tantrums 6. No meaningful words, still just strings of mamama, dadada, etc... 7. Sleeps 12 hours, up 0-1 times at night. 8. She eats pretty much anything we give her. She does still struggle with meat most of the time though. 9. She is a really easy baby but she is becoming little miss independent and throws tantrums if she is contained. Otherwise, I can't complain. 10. 20 weeks pregnant today with baby girl #2.
If your doctor isn't concerned, don't worry about it. There is a very wide range of normal for crawling and some babies never do a 'proper' crawl.
I don't think this is a big deal either andthentherewere10. DS has been army crawling for months and just last week at 10 months did a little bit of normal crawling. Still mostly army crawls though - which only bothers me because he picks up so much more dog hair that way
It is very effective for cleaning the floors, just stick a swiffer on the baby's belly and it cleans up the dog hair quite nicely
How old is your LO? 10 months old -How are you and your SO doing? The last couple of weeks have been challenging. We have a lot going on with moving, etc so it's been hard. We are both in a funk but I think it's temporary. -Is your LO walking yet? Soooo close. He can take 2-3 steps so it is imminent. -How many teeth? 6 -What new things has LO learned lately? He is throwing like a champ and mimics a lot of things. -Any words? Just babbles but does repeat babbles I say -how is sleep? We had to do CIO bootcamp because he was up 6x per night and now are down to 1-2 wake ups. I count it as a win. -What is baby eating these days? EVERYTHING. Seriously he cannot get enough of anything. He is still nursing a ton but loves solid foods. We are doing almost all table foods.
What is the hardest thing about having your 10-12 month old? He and his sister are only 15 months apart and he is sooooo active and into everything. What is the best thing? He is such a sweet and easy going baby. He is just along for the adventure and loves to cuddle.
Anyone wanting to TTC or already expecting? Anybody else still not gotten their periods back yet? No and no.
