We're off to the Philippines in 2 weeks for a wedding - the attire is 'smart casual', the wedding will be outside in the evening and the temps will be in the high 70s/low 80s. Light fabrics and bright colors have been encouraged. I'm wearing a fuchsia sundress with cork wedges.
My husband is the least fashion forward person I know (and I say that with a lot of love). He's picky, hates anything that's edgy, and has not worn a pair of jeans since I met him 12 years ago. He wears brooks brothers shirts and dress pants to work and cargo pants and polo shirts on the weekend.
What can I get in the next few weeks that he won't balk at, that will be comfortable in the heat and where he will look snappy enough for a wedding? I was thinking of navy linen shorts and a casual white button down shirt but I'm truly stuck (and I need to order something soon.)

I would do pants instead of shorts. Linen doesn't wear easily. I would try a regular pair of navy dress pants with the white button down. A vest could be fun.

Gray would be a good color too.
Ditto. Linen would actually be great, but it wrinkles very easily and he'd probably never wear them again, so I'd skip it.
My DH would wear khakis with a long sleeve button down (sleeves rolled) and a tie. The color of the shirt would depend on the tie he choose, but most likely light blue.
