Yes, again with the Maui trip. I was originally planning on wearing my running shoes to go on hiking trips but I know we'll want to go into water falls which wouldn't be feasible with running shoes. So I've started looking into Keens and the like. Are there any that serve the purpose, comfortable and easy on the eyes? TIA!
Hey Jenn, we brought both had Keen Newport H2 and our Tevas, and we used our Keens more. I liked how they protected our entire foot more, better treading, and better for hiking (in that I felt more secure climbing over large tree roots, rocky terrain, and slippery rocks in the water). They were super comfy too, so that would be my/our pick

I have a pair of Merrells that are basically a running/hiking shoe with tiny holes in the bottom for drainage. They have as much support as any running of hiking shoe I've ever tried. Instead of bing completely closed they have no mesh where the cutouts are and are like a sandal with a toe. They also have a removeable backstrap that's adjustable too. I think they are called something like Chameleons. They dry really fast and have a removeable insole that can make room for an orthotic. I wear them for hiking, rafting, outdoor concerts with rain, and amusement parks. They have the bungee laces too which is nice since you never have to worry about them coming untied. Columbia also makes water shoes with a lot of support and holes for drainage. DH has those, but they have a women's version too. They both look like running shoes with very little bulk and great toe protection.
Keens are great for hiking in Hawaii. I wore mine all the time when we lived there. Plus they are so ugly they are cute. I have red ones but am secretly jealous of my son's orange ones that seem to go with everything.
