Ugh, sorry Jennyanydots. Hope your day gets better!
Last night was day 2 of the SLS. He fell asleep in the crib in less than 5 minutes, slept 7-3, woke up for a quick feed, and then back to sleep until 6:00. That is the best night we have had ever! I wish I knew how to replicate it. I imagine he will be up every 2 hours tonight just to mix it up.
He also hasn't bit me since Tuesday night. Please say the biting phase is over!
I have Thursdays off so instead of waking up at 515 to get ready and feed I let the babies sleep. They just got up right before 630 so I got extra sleep. Usually they go back to bed till 8 so hopefully do that.
It's supposed to be freezing today but H should be home so hoping to leave by myself and run errands.
We need to get out of the house, but I don't know what we should do. I was thinking maybe the consignment store, but that's killing our budget. I have more 0-6m clothes than I need! And we ran off energy at Target yesterday. Hmm..what to do, what to do.
I'm bringing a cake to a baby shower at my office today and L is coming with. I'm so excited to bring him in and show him off. They haven't seen him in months and he is just so happy and fun now.

Hopefully this means you have found clothes that make you happy. A wore a lot of gender neutral and boy clothes as a newborn, and as her clothes got girlier they still remained ruffle and cupcake free for the most part.

We are taking did pictures of the grandkids with my sil tonight for my in laws anniversary gift. Her husband is a photographer. I asked if we should coordinate colors or anything and she said "that's so dated".
Okay, I'm going to bring one kid in pjs and the other in a bow tie then. Just to be sure their outfits aren't coordinated then.
This morning was awful in our house. Let's just say I had to walk the dogs with the baby in the rain. #soloparenting I'm treating myself to chick fila for breakfast.
Throwing myself a pity party here. DH worked 7 days a week for 13 hours a day the entire month of January. He starts that again in 2 weeks. I was really looking forward to these 2 weeks where I wasn't "on duty" all the time. Then he has surgery on Monday and can't lift dd....for 2 weeks. He won't be back on a regular 5 day a week work schedule until the end of March. I anticipate that I'll either lose my mind or eat my body weight in ice cream by that time.
Desperate to get DD down for nap so we can go to the Target liquidation as soon as she wakes up. She normally is down by 8am so is purposely screwing me over right now by pulling every single book out of her book shelf and laughing.
I'm starting to get panick-y about going back to work next week. Not because I'll be missing DS or Anything (although I do think I'm sadder about that than I was the first time) but I just remember those first few months back at work being so INSANELY STRESSFUL and I'm dreading it. My job isn't stressful really so it's not that, but remembering all my work gear and baby gear each day, dealing with pumping, washing bottles every night, stuff like packing breakfast and lunch, and so on.
I'm hoping this time because I know what to expect it will be easier and I will be better prepared. Also I will just buy more bottles this time around if necessary LOL.
Do you have an office now? I can't remember if you all up there have them, but that coul dmake things easier. Yes, to more bottles and yay to talking to me all day

Whenever we talk about doing family pictures with H's family - his mom loves to talk about this but it has only actually happened once in the last 6 years - she always thinks we need to default to khakis and white shirts, or jeans and white shirts, or each smaller family in the same color of shirt (so we all remember who belongs to who, I guess?) Now that is what I think is dated. I think having a coordinating color palette is still very much a good thing.
@supergreen maybe the library today? I do that on rainy weekend days.
I tried the next size up shoes on E and they are just about ready to start fitting, so yay for new shoes! I mean I've only had these SKRs in her closet for like 9 months, lol.
In other shoe news E absolutely flipped out when I grabbed her sneakers. Ok kid, pick out whatever pair you want. At least I've realized that I can distract the getting dressed tantrum by asking her what's on her shirt each morning or what color it is.
So DD definitely qualifies for speech and we're starting weekly therapy immediately.
I'm mostly in the "this is good! Let's get this handled!" mindset, but there have been moments where I feel like a shit mom for not putting it all together sooner. I knew she always been a bit difficult to understand for others, I can hear her perfectly, but I know I have to translate for other sometimes. I just had no idea what was age appropriate and what would naturally work itself out and what was a signal for an issue.
Some of it is her tongue. All of my kids are tongue tied but hers wasn't severe enough to affect BFing so we didn't have it clipped or anything. The boys both had severe issues and we had it clipped the day they were born. Also, we didn't really use straw sippy cups because I hate dealing with extra parts. We skip bottles and go from nursing to take and toss and then just an open cup. That's probably where the shit mom part comes in too. . Use straws friends! Strengthen that tongue!
I'm just glad we have a plan and I have a very eager to learn and please little girl that is just happy to have another weekly activity. And she's super pumped about sipping milkshakes, yogurt and pudding through a straw.

Sorry you had a rough morning Did you get the Chicken minis for breakfast? I love those!
Oh and I was going to order DH some chocolate covered strawberries for valentine's day, but they want $14.99 for standard shipping? What in the ever loving fuck?

Good luck! Granted, my older child is much older than yours, but I have found going back to work far less overwhelming than going back to work with kid #1. I think part of it, being a second time parent, you will be much more lax about routine and other stuff at night and you know what you need to get done. Can you run bottles in your dishwasher? I started doing that this time and it has changed my lyfe!!!!

DS still can't use a straw that well. He's always had a bad suck-from BFing to straws and on. I guess we need to get working on this again, he has a few letters that he has trouble with. I had speech therapy as a kid and remember LOVING it, I'm sure your DD will too!!
And-you are NOT a shit mom. At all. Sometimes a wait and see approach works, sometimes it doesn't. There are also plenty of kids who never use a straw and have no issues-and plenty that do use one that do have speech issues. You never know what will work for each kid.

.
NO! When we got our new building AOs didn't get offices. That's why some fled to CC and FC. I have a big cube right next to the lunchroom so EVERYONE can come talk to me ALL THE TIME.
Yay for three days a week though lol.
Ugh, yeah that sucks. I don't know if AOs ar egoing to have offices here forever either. I mean we don't have unlimited space. Maybe they will do office sharing or something.
Next time I'd probably double the filling though and surround the turkey tenderloins with the extra filling to make it more of a complete meal. I didn't feel like we got a full serving of veggies with just the filling-and I love all in one meals. I could easily eat the filling all on its own.
Our DCP texted that she is sick with a cough and high fever. I really hope it isn't the flu. DD was there yesterday so would have been exposed. Dh is staying home today as I can't miss work

Yup! I got a bunch from fussybutt14 and zarapipe. Plus the local consignment store had a surprisingly nice selection of things suited to my taste.
I'm getting much more excited about DD now that she has a name. And we're starting on the nursery!

L just fell asleep and we are heading there as soon as he wakes up. Apparently the sales aren't that great though.
DS is trying to 'count' (he'll say the words, but has no real concept of counting really). He can say two, three, four and six. He sometimes happens to say them at the correct time while DH or I are counting. DH is convinced he's a genius.
DS also thinks his feet are called shoes, so Harvard decided to waitlist him for the time being.
