Last time (for our successful IVF that gave us DS) we waited for the call, but I've found myself debating what to do after transfer this time around. Do you think one is easier than the other?
I tested the night before because DH was home with me. I wanted to be with him when I found out in case it was bad news. The beta results came in during the day and he was at work (we work opposite shifts).
I tested at 6dp5dt and got a BFN and it was the worst day of my life. I cried on the bathroom floor for hours. I tested again two days later and got my BFP.
I wanted to be at home and do it by myself (without DH even) so that I could process things. I could not have handled finding out bad news on the phone while the nurse tried to comfort me.
I tested at 9dp3dt, the morning before my beta. I needed to prepare myself if it was negative, which it was. I still held out hope the beta would be positive, but since I'd akready processed the night before, it helped with getting the call from the nurse.
I also wanted to tell DH in person if it was positive and I knew I couldn't wait till he got home from work the day of the beta.
I'm actually thinking about not POAS next time b/c the last time I totally melted down after my BFN at 5dp6dt b/c I knew I was out and then had to do PIO for 3 more nights I might just POAS before beta next time so I can melt down at home but not obsess for a week. Maybe. Who are we really kidding?
I usually do but didn't this past cycle because my normal LP is 12-13 days and yesterday at 12DPO my temp dropped. And then boom, period. So I didn't really get a chance to test before my betas.
Like someone else said, it makes it slightly less awful to get the real news when you're prepared ahead of time.
To clarify, I wouldn't field the phone call while at work. Last time, we gave permission for them to leave a message and then we listened to it after work. I'm feeling superstitious so I'll probably just do that again.

I tried to do that, but the voicemail they left me was to call them, so I found out for sure over the phone anyway. I was hoping that a voicemail would let us hear at the same time.
Maybe they leave a message if it's a BFP though? Who knows.
Apart from the month I got my bfp, my period always cam before I even had a chance to go in for a beta.
The cycle I got my bfp, I tested at 13dpo and then went in for a beta the next day.
Even when you're on progesterone and estrogen? I didn't really think of that scenario. My clinic only does betas for IVF/FET, unless you get a + HPT, so maybe we're talking different circumstances.

I tested before my last beta (which my clinic does for any treatment cycle, so that was for TI with Femara and trigger). It helped that I was able to tell the nurse I was expecting a bfn, so she could call and say, "As you expected, you're not pregnant."
I don't like the nurses enough to want to get the news from them. Is that bad?
They otherwise communicate exclusively through a patient portal (like secure emails), so I don't know why they have to call for betas, either way. I don't want a nurse knowing before I do.
I'll test again this cycle, too, but I only have three pregnancy tests left, so I'll be waiting a while. I'll probably test on 2/28, 3/1, and before appointment on 3/2.
