I need to vent about mil and I dont think it deserves its own post. She's taken to telling DH, basically, you need to get your woman in line. She has made no effort to get to know baby h and blames me.
DH shoots that shit down right away, but it doesn't dissuade her from keeping it up. Even if DH hangs up on her.
For a little background, this has been going on for some time. She lost her shit that we didn't tell her when I was in labor and then called me controlling and didn't come to the hospital. Then after we got home we told her when she could come over and she showed up 2 hours early because that time worked better for her. She has invited us over zero times and has asked if she can come over zero times.
She also took issue that I was breastfeeding ( because sil didnt) and now thinks its ridiculous that I'm still breastfeeding.
She won't say any of this to my face. And I know that deep down she probably feels a little guilty that she's spent basically no time with baby h. But why she thinks its going to help by lecturing DH on everything we're doing wrong and how I'm making terrible parenting decisions is going to help that is beyond me.
I forgot my coat this morning and it's 28 degrees according to the car. I'm sitting in the car outside Publix trying to decide whether I am too lazy to go home and get it and just brave the cold.
I know this was from 6hrs ago, but it's 15 degrees here, and feels about 1, 28 would seem nice right about now.
Brrrr!!!!
Well, in July when here it's 99 degrees and 150% humidity, it will be my turn to be jealous.
in light of our great chili debate - I'm really torn on what style of chili to make for the cookoff at work. I need to declare my "type of chili" in advance.
My default is not-texas style (i.e. with beans, tomato base) but with a shitton of dried peppers of whatever I've got in the cabinet (I randomly grab dried peppers at the Hispanic grocery store down the street on a whim so I've always got an assortment), usually some beer, etc. It's usually pretty spicy, but not like face melting hot and a good touch smokey. Sometimes I use ground beef, sometimes cubed. Or pork. But usually beef.
I don't even know what to call that. They want a recipe! I don't have a recipe! I just make it!
Anyone who reads this, give me your opinion about what to do for valentine's day:
1) Classic restaurant in Philly we have never eaten at, fixed menu (4 courses), includes carriage ride, roses, champagne and hot wassail (after carriage ride). Downside: price and having to go into the city.
2) Order sushi for home from take out place that we have not tried, but gets great reviews. Make dessert at home. Maybe walk down the street for drinks at a local place before or after dinner. Downside: pretty casual.

I hate going out on Valentine's Day with a passion.

#2 times 1 million. Vday stuff in public is just never as good as it should be. The restaurant is always just a bit too crowded, or just slightly off their game for whatever reason, or the carriage ride will be cold, or etc etc etc. I've never once enjoyed a Valentines day like that - whereas delicious takeout and fancy decadent homemade dessert where I get to lick the bowl and then get naked on the couch can't go wrong.
I love a nice romantic night out, but just like New Years Eve at a bar is never what it should be - VDay at a restaurant always falls short. (for me)
I watched 4 episodes of Supernatural at work today. I had to print 150 letters and envelopes, then stuff them, and stamp them. It takes a surprisingly long time to do that.
My mom is trying my patience. She's on my last dayum nerve. My niece bought her mug cakes from Tastefully Simple for Christmas and she's out now. So, she's been looking for recipes online. I have heard about 150,000,000 mug cake recipes. She fell in the kitchen yesterday. She was sitting on the floor of the living room when I got home from work, she wasn't really hurt bad, but was really sore.... but I'll be damned if she wasn't in that kitchen later on making the dang mug cake recipe.
