Today, the Supreme Court of Canada unanimously struck down its ban on doctor-assisted suicide because it goes against the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Lawmakers have 12 months to come up with laws that fit the ban if they choose. In the next year, aiding and abetting suicide will still be a crime.

I wasn't too surprised either. I just wonder how much the government is going to try to do in terms of limitations. It will be interesting to see how this proceeds with the federal election this fall.
