Because I do stupid stuff when it comes to S&B, I've decided to DIY my red hair. Since red (assuming I like it and keep it up) will probably be a lot of upkeep, I don't want to be spending a bunch of money at a salon every 6 weeks or so. That said, my hairdresser friend who does my highlights and does a great job is picking out the formula for me from Sally's and telling me exactly what to get, and she also gave me some coloring tips specific to red. She lives out of state and typically does my highlights when she's visiting family who live near me, but because she's going through a divorce, it could be some time before she is back for another visit, which is why I don't just use her.
She wants to actually go to Sally's to look at the swatches, so I don't know when she'll get back to me, but I hope it will be soon!
This is the picture I gave her for what I want, but told her that I want to be sure the color flatters my skin tone and to feel free to pick something she thinks would look better.
Fun! But, Be aware of hair color staining your clothes for a couple of days though. My mom self-dyed her hair that color red for years and it was beautiful. But, for days after she applied it, the color would run when she sweat/worked out, etc. just. Heads up. Maybe she just used a not-so-great brand.
