Multiple reports indicate there was a shooting inside the Monroeville Mall Saturday night. Multiple police departments are on scene, including Monroeville Police, Allegheny County Police, Port Authority Police and even Munhall Police, in addition to even more departments. Sources say three people were shot.
Officials at Forbes Hospital also say they’ve received three shooting victims. A source says two of the victims are in critical condition and the third is in serious conditions.
A police source also says that the gunfire was the result of a gang fight, and that there were multiple shooters. A news conference is expected from police with more information.
Pittsburgh native and former NFL quarterback Terrelle Pryor tweeted after witnessing the scene. Damn was just in monroeville mall and just saw 2 ppl get shot. They are letting guns go in there. — Terrelle Pryor (@terrellepryor) February 8, 2015
Another source inside the mall, who did not want to be identified, says a guard reported hearing “shots fired” near the Mister Rogers Neighborhood play area and that a person was found shot inside the Macy’s department store.
Shortly after, mall security called to evacuate the entire mall.
Police and FBI agents have been going door-to-door at shops at the mall looking for suspects.
In December, the Monroeville Mall closed after a large fight broke out. Reportedly as many as 1,000 people were involved at one point.
