We went for a 3.2 mile walk this afternoon. Only reason it was double our normal walk was because the main road at the end of the normal walk wasn't plowed. So we crossed 4 lanes of traffic and went through a third neighborhood. We made it to the far end of our street when I misstepped and my ankle went out. I don't know if it is sprained or strained or what, but it still hurts to stand up on it after three + hours of ice and rest. I'm debating if I should go to work and teach from my rolling chair (there's a large chance my principal will pop into one of my rooms) or just take the day off. I just know I won't be able to stand up and circulate around the room for three 90 minute classes.
Ouch! Would you get in trouble for sitting during class even though that sounds like a pretty good excuse? If so I'd call in! Hope it feels better soon!
I've been super lazy all day. I'm really worn out and not feeling great. I think all the running around we did yesterday tired me out! We met my mom and sister for lunch and did some shopping. We went to Trader Joe's for the first time and found some good stuff! Totally shouldn't be eating their cookie butter cookies but omg they are so good! We also got some tamales I heard were good and I'm excited to try them! Then last night we had game night with friends, so it was a pretty long day, haha.

grover - So odd! I did something to my ankle today too. H and I were just walking through a store and I felt a pain like I rolled it badly or something. It's gotten progressively worse all afternoon. I'm currently icing as I have no idea what I did. I hope your pain subsides soon!
estrellita It's a pop in observation to include data for my evaluation. So I am leaning toward maybe calling in. I don't want to call in though, because I'm saving up all my days for a hopeful mat leave next year.
@moonbeam I love potato pancakes!!! I don't get to make them nearly enough because H doesn't like them. How do you eat them? I grew up eating them with apple sauce.
I did manage to make apple crisp this evening. I sat in front of the stove in a bar stool and made H bring me all the ingredients. LOL

Apple sauce, yes! I make a lot of them, so it's enough for a meal. My parents used to eat theirs with sour cream, but I don't do that.

Ahh I see. Yeah, I can understand wanting to save up days! There are so many times recently I've wanted to go home early but I'm trying to save up my PTO as much as possible for later in the year (mine is all PTO, resets yearly). Hopefully it feels better enough for you tomorrow!
grover can you notify your principal in advance so he/she knows? I am a principal and would have no problem if one of my staff had to do that. I do the pop in walk throughs too, and do several so they represent many different moments in time so one you do while sitting bc you're hurt would not cause any problem in your overall evaluation! Just a thought, hope your boss is understanding. If not, just call in.
sarahsas I just put in for a sub for today. I needed assistance standing in the shower this morning and there's no way I can drive myself to work this morning. Today's also a staff mtg day, so I already emailed the principal to let her know that I apologize, and that I will be there tomorrow (which I just got notification is the post meeting). I'm just glad that H can adjust his schedule for tomorrow to drive me to and from. There's no way he has time today though which is unfortunate, but gives me for time to rest and ice it.
jjwritergirl Internet says sprains can take 6 days to heal. I have a dr appointment scheduled for next Monday already, so if it's still painful then I'll ask her to look at it while I'm there. Unfortunately, this is a crazy busy week this week, with the exception of after work on Friday, but my doctor is not in the office at that time this week.
