I HATE my hair. This is what it looks like when it air dries - a nasty, frizzy mess that's not straight, but not really wavy. I blow dry my hair 99% of the time because of this.
I feel like I look better with longer hair, but it's such a PITA. I will get my hair nice and smooth in the morning by drying with a round brush or using a flat iron, but it moves toward this nasty, frizzy texture pretty quickly. For some reason, when it's short (like a chin length bob) it doesn't do this. But any hair below my chin and longer frizzes, so I end up pulling my hair into a pony usually well before noon. Then I think what is the point of having my hair this length if I'm just going to pull it back. It is soooo much easier when it's short, but I also end up sticking both sides behind my ears and think it's less flattering like that without some length. I'll find a picture.
I do think it looks cute short when I don't tuck it behind my hears, but for some reason hair by my face drives me nuts and I tuck it no matter what the length.
Here is a blurry pic of my hair shoulder length, and I think it looks better on me, but it is frizzy in this pic
Does anyone have hair like this? Any tips? What length do you keep it at?
I'm trying to decide if I should keep my current length or cut it. If I keep my current length, I need to figure out how to manage my hair so I don't wear a ponytail every day. If I cut it, I need to learn to not tuck it behind my ears. Or can I just go bald?

Maybe you need some product in your hair when you let it airdry? Do you use Argan oil or something else? I usually use Argan oil through my whole hair, and then I tame the frizzies around my face with a styling wax from my salon. That seems to help.
I think mine is like that. I cannot let my hair air dry, it looks awful. I blow dry it, a little flat iron, and then a little curling iron to keep the frizz away. I put a leave-in conditioner and a frizz/shine cream in before blow drying, then before using the flat iron I put a serum that helps protect the ends. I only wash my hair twice a week and I think that helps because I think the extra little bit of oil actually helps keep the frizz away. My hair is long and I think that helps weigh it down more too.
Nacho - no airdry routine since I never do it. In this pic, I used Living Proof styling cream, which actually does help with the frizz when I wear it straight.
Mrst2 - maybe I just need to be using a lot more products. All I use is a frizz cream, and then when I flat iron, a heat protectant. What leave in conditioner and frizz cream do you use?
My hair looks like that when it's not keratin treated.
Ooooo, tell me about Keratin treatment. How much is it? Does it really keep your hair smooth and frizz free? Can you let it air dry? How often do you have to get it done, and is it okay to do it with color treated hair? So many questions, lol.
My hair is like that, so it is NEVER air-dried. If I don't blow dry it, I use mousse and gel to bring out the curls. Although I like my hair in a long bob, length has no impact for me, because it frizzes up near the crown, not at the ends.
A deep conditioner and leave-ins (plural), with blow drying and straightening are what prevent the frizz for me.

I get the Coppola one and my stylist offers an express treatment that's less expensive, she charges me $80 (up from $75 b/c my hair's longer now). It has changed my life. I still have to blowdry if I want to wear it down b/c it just doesn't look good if I don't, but if I let it airdry it looks fine in a ponytail. My hair's not color treated so not sure about that.

Normally I lurk, but since I'm a hairstylist, I thought I'd chime in. I think you would definitely benefit from a keratin treatment. Since hair is made of keratin, basically what it does is fill in your hair of all the nutrients that it has lost to smooth it out. It can be done on colored treated hair without damaging it one bit and generally you would need it retouched in 4-6 months (or longer, depending on how fast your hair grows). I also have very frizzy hair naturally, but much longer and thicker than yours so i definitely feel your pain. Some products I love for styling are Redken Satinwear, it isn't heavy, gives nice smoothness and also Redken Align, a little heavier, but as long as you dont use too much, it shouldn't weigh down your hair. Kenra Silkening Gloss is also great. It's an oil and smells amazing. Hope this helps a little!

My hair is this way but I typically add curly Creme and then spray gel and wear it curly. I have tried the redken satinwear and it's one of my favorites. I also use a heat protector before I flat iron.

THANKS!!! You need to do more than lurk because we totally need a hairdresser here! Since you came out of lurking, any chance you could help me pick out a red hair dye from Sally's? Seriously. I am so confused about the numbers before the dyes and figuring out which shade would work with my coloring.
