Do you have to get your rings inspected normally? My jeweler inspects and cleans rings every 6 months, so my diamonds are guaranteed. I just pay the cost of labor - $40. It has happened to me three times actually, and my band is currently being sent back to the vendor to see why.
I have a bunch of square-set diamonds, set flush into the band, and one fell out. It was $200 f-ing dollars to fix. I'm not saying yours will be anywhere near that, but be prepared--it most likely will not be free.

I paid 80 when I got one replaced recently. it had to be re-pronged and they had to order the diamond. They cleaned and reshaped it though so it looks much nicer.
The first time it happened, it was free. The second time it happened I think it was around $60. We are looking to maybe having my setting changed from platinum to white gold because platinum is so soft and I am so rough with my jewelry.
I have had my diamond for a almost a year and the prongs are loose. I have to get mine taken to our jeweler but he said he will do it for free. I don't think replacing the tiny diamond on the band will be that much.

I don't think this is accurate...platinum is Strong, gold is soft. Platinum scratches easier but I always thought it was stronger.
It's been about 10 years since I worked in jewelry so maybe I have it wrong

The woman told my husband that platinum will never lose it's weight, but it is a soft metal for prongs and things, and I think that is why my same freaking diamond keeps falling out of my ring. I know that gold is soft as well, but the jeweler told my husband that at least the prongs would hold up better if they weren't platinum.

I know gold itself is soft but it's mixed with alloys to make it stronger (so 10K is stronger than 14K because less gold more alloys)...but I still thought platinum was strongest. My whole ring is gold EXCEPT my prongs are platinum, I thought for strength.

LOL, I am probably just talking out my ass! lol.... All I know is that it is very bad at keeping its shape. it is always oval, it doesn't stay round. So then, the little stones pop out of the setting.
