So many things happening this weekend… It's Friday the 13th, it's the kick-off of Mardi Gras weekend in New Orleans, and other areas that so celebrate, it's Valentine's Day on Saturday, and it's a federal holiday on Monday. Do you have any plans for the (possibly) long weekend? What will you be reading to while away the hours?
QOTD: Do you read while you're standing in line (like at the bank, post office, airports, anywhere you'll be in a long, slow moving line)? Would you answer change depending on whether the reading was done via e-book or a paper book?

Currently reading: The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. It's about a retired man who suddenly decides to walk from one end of England to the other, to see an old friend who is in hospice care. I'm enjoying it. It's kind of another version of Wild, but imo, better written.
I just started The Last Illusion by Porochista Khakpour. Too soon to tell.
Zero plans for the weekend. We are getting an arctic freeze again, so probably just huddling inside.
QOTW: I don't read in line. I do read in waiting rooms but generally avoid places with long lines. (My schedule allows me to go at off hours, lucky me.)
currently reading: I am Having So Much Fun Without You
Invisible Monsters
QOTW: I would possibly listen to an audio book while waiting in line.........maybe. Lines do not bother me so much, and I have never been in one that I got bored and needed something to do
Zebras Don't Get Ulcers (almost finished, 7 weeks after starting...) HP and the Order of the Phoenix At Home (Bill Bryson, audiobook)
Depends on the line, but if it's really long I might break out an audiobook or podcast. More likely I'll check in here than go for an actual book, though.
The Conspiracy of Us (outlandish) Moriarty Double Digit
I tend to play on the Internet more than I read in lines, etc. But when I am reading and waiting it is almost always on my phone or kindle. I read real books at home or on the plane. I mean I have my kindle on the plane but I have to have something to read when they make you turn your kindle off!
Still reading the Silkworm, but will likely wrap it up this weekend. No plans for the long weekend. I have read when sitting down for a long wait, including a line for emissions testing in my car, but I'm not a fan of reading while standing.
christy082 I love the way you word that-"eh, maybe I'll have a baby, maybe we'll just go to brunch instead". Lol. Sending good baby thoughts. DP is OOT, so my plans include some deep cleaning and some projects I've been putting off.
Technically still reading Back Channel. I still like it, just not in the mood for a serious thriller.
Get In Trouble by Kelly Link-a short story collection. I really like a lot of her work, but most of the stories in this are leaving me cold.
Slightly Tempted- a romance reread. It's a historical set around the Battle of Waterloo.
The Chivalrous Rake-more popcorn on the Nook. Also a historical romance.
I am reading both Fahrenheit 451 and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
- I have dinner plans for tomorrow (v-day) and my husband and I have off on Monday, so we will probably try to see a movie to get our Oscar viewings up to par. - Yes, I read in line, which is why I have a kindle app on my phone.
I just finished The Glassblower by Petra Durst-Benning. It was a kindle first and was pretty good. Now I'm on Personal by Lee Child. It's a Jack Reacher novel (?) that my book club picked. Not really my kind of book, but I'm enjoying it okay. It's an easy read at least, and I don't feel like I'm missing much having never read any others.
Finished up The Martian (Loved it!!) and now I'm working my way through Console Wars by Blake Harris and Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates for my book club.
QOTW: I used to read in lines more but now I usually play on my phone. I do still carry my kindle everywhere jic.
Currently reading: The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. It's about a retired man who suddenly decides to walk from one end of England to the other, to see an old friend who is in hospice care. I'm enjoying it. It's kind of another version of Wild, but imo, better written.
I've had this on my list, glad to hear you're enjoying it.
I'm reading If You Lived Here I'd Know Your Name by Heather Lende. The author lives in Haines Alaska and it's fascinating to read the stories about small town living and Alaska's beauty and challenges.
I'm listening to Life Itself by Roger Ebert. It's really well written, great narrator and quite interesting. Long though, and ironically I'm enjoying the parts about his personal story much more than those about his interviews with Hollywood peeps.
QOTW: if in line unexpectedly I might read on my phone (nook app). If I'm in a waiting room or traveling I always bring my Nook. Sent from my XT1080 using proboards
Just started Catch Me If You Cab by Frank Abagnale for my IRL book club. He will be speaking at my University the day we have book club, so we are planning to go. Should be fun - I hope I like the book.
Not a long weekend for me. We went to happy hour last night, Valentine's dinner in with wine, and a pancake breakfast tomorrow. Other than that I plan to stay in where it is warm and read.
I like to read a trashy magazine in line if one is available. But, I don't tend to have reading material with menotherwise. Maybe I would check my phone.

Not a long weekend here in Australia, but I did have a nice Valentines Day and I share a live stream of a Mardi Gras parade with DH. (Anything to bring a bit of home, ya know?)
I'm reading Death at Sandringham Estate as the second part of the trilogy challenge for the Ultimate Reading Challenge. It's a re-read of the series, but I don't really remember what happens so it's a fun re-read.
QOTD: I used to read everywhere, in line, at restaurants, in waiting rooms, wherever I had a few moments, I'd read. I was never without a book. But now, I really never take my books anywhere except to my weekly tap class; I arrive early and read while I'm waiting. I'm going to have to get back into the habit because I miss having that other world to escape into.
I'm reading The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. I like it so far, it started out way different than I expected.
QOTW: I read in lines. Post office, grocery store, TSA security, DMV, waiting for my takeout order... you name it. I always have a book with me for this reason!
I finished the Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd which I enjoyed. I picked up the third book in the Bronze Horseman series. I started it awhile back but put it down. I wasn't a fan of the other two in the series but I am already invested and need to know what happens. I started out really disliking this book but as I got further in it started to grow on me. I am actually liking it now.
I will read anywhere on a Kindle because it's easy.
