Explain it to me like I'm 5. I'm very very fair so I feel like I need blush but I always feel like a clown when I wear it. I also have pitted acne scars that are below my cheekbones and I feel that blush accentuates it.
Any brand or color recommendations?
Here's a pic for reference, and I don't know why I look so red in it, I don't look this red IRL.
Don't wear anything with shimmer/glitter and put it on your cheekbones only. I like to suck in my cheeks like I'm making a fish face, start under my eye socket, and blend up toward the temple.
I like Bobbi Brown blush in Nectar (not the shimmer brick) and Neutrogena Healthy Skin blush in the kind of light pinky color.
I like the inside edge of the blush to line up w/ my pupil. The closer I get blush to my nose, the less it looks like blush and the more it looks like sunburn.
Hmmm, I do it way different than Amy bit am also no expert. When I apply blush, I smile and go in circles right on the round apple part of my cheek. Then I do a couple of swipes from the center of the apple of my cheek up toward my temple.
Don't worry - I'm no expert either! I think blush placement is just one of those things where everyone is different.
I used to do the smile and apply thing but then I would end up with too much blush in the front - like, too close to my mouth or something. Though my blush brush is pretty big...idk.
I use the mac129 brush, then smile super exaggerated the apple blush on the apples and sweep toward the temple. And I always highlight with powder or cream on my cheekbones, that gives it a very pretty glow, that looks awesome in pictures

I'm gonna head to target tomorrow and pick up some blush and play around with it. When I smile my cheeks are very round so I have to be careful I don't end up with two circles of blush on my face lol.
I agree - there's no universal way to apply. If I put it on the apples of my cheeks, I look like a doll! In part because I'm so fair that it just looks too dramatic on me. But if I stay closer to my hairline and bring it out, it seems to downplay my round face and really compliment.
I saw this tutorial and I do a modified version of it - subtle but effective!
As far as color recommendations go, if you usually feel clown-like in blush chances are that you're picking shades that are too dark. I prefer shopping at Ulta or Sephora because you can test everything before you buy, b ut if you're set on Target I would look for very pale shades.

I would love to go to sephora or ulta but the closest one of either is 2.5 hours away. I just want something cheap to practice with then I'll get the good stuff
