From his FB status:
To those interested in the Chick-fil-A issue - I met with the owner of a FL Street Chick-fil-A this morning to express some concerns I have and to learn more about his particular franchise. I told him I respect the right both he and Mr. Cathy have to voice their opinions, and that my concern was mostly on finding out if our local dollars were funding divisive and hateful organizations. He assured me that other than his franchise fee, he keeps our local dollars in our community. Further, he assured me that all citizens and visitors of a FL town can feel comfortable dining at his restaurant and that his focus will always be on poultry, not politics.
I told him that I would simply pass along these assurances and that I had no intention of either encouraging or discouraging my friends from eating there. I was appreciative of his time and candor and that we were able to have a respectful conversation despite disagreements we may have over marriage equality.

I thought that franchises, in addition to the fee, also had to buy all supplies at the 'company store' which surely gives local $ to corporate who makes a profit on selling cups, chicken, and new required signage/building modifications to franchise owners. I don't think that you just give corporate your $100,000 in dues and get free stuff for a year.
I do like a rep. who works to gather his own facts first hand though.
