The thing about this score is that there are a lot of duds. They don't involve IM or KC, and I will always use "loathing...unadulterated loathing" in polite conversation. But, there are scads of songs I will FF through because something disappoints. But the high points remain really strong for me.
I saw them both in it on Broadway when I was 13. Every subsequent performance of Wicked I've seen has paled in comparison.
Same here. I was so lucky to see both of them in it when I was in NY, and then saw it again years later in LA. It was good, but not the same without them.
I'm in the season of west wing where Chenowith becomes a regularish character and I just love her. At some point she's singing a little tune to herself, but has to do it as though she were an ordinary person. It was entertaining.
THEN she was talking about helping Toby with his image/likeability, and I'm all "I'LL HELP YOU BE POP UUU LARRR" and dh is all "wut? Can you not?" cause he didn't know who she was. Well and because I was singing, poorly, over the show.

It is really good and I almost wish I wouldn't have listened to that recording non-stop before seeing the show in my hometown. It was still really good, but obviously the performers weren't quite as good at KC and IM so it kind of spoiled it for me. Love singing along with Popular!
