Well, I hate running so I'd need at minimum a cute outfit to get me motivated.
ETA: given it some thought. cute outfit would not be enough. also, need cash, hot half-naked guys to carry me around, and probably also daily massages. THEN maybe I'll consider potentially running. I think.
Can I tell you that the Nike womens half gives you a Tiffany necklace at the end, presented by firemen in tuxedos?
This is my big contribution to this thread. DO NOT SPEND $100 on those outfits! Holy hell. Admittedly, I have no desire to run a Disney race or get decked out, but to each their own. With that said, you can get those sparkle skirts for around $30 (I think?), then throw on a matching tank and arm warmers. That's basically what that outfit is.
Yeah, my PHM outfit was a $20 second hand Sparkle Skirt, my normal WalMart running capris, and a tank from the sale rack at Academy.
Exactly! There were a few adorable princess runners in my FB feed this morning, you just don't have to spend $100 (if you don't want to) to get that cute look.
They just announced the first half marathon at disneyland Paris in 2016. I kind of want to forfeit all birthday/Mother's Day/christmas/Arbor Day presents between now and then so that I can go. Runcations are fun as hell!

What if I run 1/4 of the half? Can I get a pair of earrings instead?
I do "races" like these sometimes - www.citysolveurbanrace.com - and I dress up because I have a chance at winning the costume contest even though I have no chance at winning the race.
One year my friend and I won dressed up as "Deadliest Catch" - she was the fisherman and I was the crab.
The next year another friend and I came in second dressed up a the wolf in grandma's clothes and her as the woodcutter (sadly our Little Red Riding Hood had to bail due to a nasty stomach flu, or we would have won).
The amount of money I spend on Pure Barre classes is probably flameful, let alone the amount I have spent on my taekwondo classes and gear. *shrug* Whatever motivates you.
I'm doing the March challenge. Are you? I will sit in this flameful boat with you, lol.
I keep forgetting to put my name on that stupid board until like, a week is past and I'm screwed to make it, lol. Maybe this time.
Also flameful, I really want some of the PB branded shirts. The "meet you at the barre" one is cute.

I don't run, but I love me some Tutus. I may run for hot firemen, but there would have to be an actual fire as well.
I would totally participate in a marathon that consisted of costumes and drinking booze and if they got rid of the running. Basically, I would go to a costume party.
I think these races are also an "excuse" for travel sometimes. Rarely do people fly down to Disney, do their run and come back the same night, you know? He wasn't a princess, but earlier this year my husband went and ran a half in Alaska, and did some side trips and drinking while he was there. He loved it. Marathons are often set up to take you through really cool parts of cities and states, so you get an experience that's different than when you run locally.
Plus I fucking love costumes.
I agree with this. It forces us to take a day off and leave town for the weekend. We went to Richmond for the last one, and had a nice weekend up there. We're headed to the beach next month, and if I can motivate myself to take training seriously this summer, I'll do another beach one in the fall. I'm looking at doing a girls trip to NYC to run a half. It's an excuse to travel, but I happen to do a couple hour workout in the middle of it.
My absolute favorite race was when 10 of us rented a house in Huntington Beach, CA (flew from FL) and ran the Surf City Marathon. Chicago was also amazing. We do Savannah every year with people in our running group. We make vacations out of all of them. In December, 18 of us on H&F rented the most amazing beach house & ran the Kiawah half & full. So much fun!

When I was younger, I participated in tons of organized sports, excluding anything specifically tied to running. I was also a smoker. I quit smoking, turned 30 and had a baby all within a year. A few years later I decided to pick up running. It's an easy hobby that I can fit in when I have the time. I am slow as all get out but running races (costumed or not) is such a fun experience and gives me that athletic high I haven't had since high school. I love it.
I should say I can theoretically run the same distances for free. LOL
Technically you're MORE likely to complete the distance on your own, since Disney will pull your (hypothetical "you," lol) ass off the course if you're too slow!
Races motivate me. Sure, I could just go out and run three miles. But, if I'm going to run a race, I'm going to do it faster and I'll run longer in my training.
