Would you think less of your health insurance company if they had to send you a rebate since they only used 74% of the $17million premiums on non-admin stuff when they were supposed to use 80%?
-------------
I have to admit when we got a letter saying this with a refund for DH and the kids health insurance, I sort of felt pissed that they didn't use the majority of the premiums for actual health-care costs.
Plus, where did they get the $ to refund? Do they cut their admin costs or just take from their profit?
What is so fucked up about these refunds (and we got a letter saying we're getting one - Hs employer will handle the distribution to the group) is that people are getting them, and then turning around and find out premiums for next year are significantly higher (like I've vented before - to keep our current plan it is now double). It makes no sense. Give me $250 refund for last year, but then charge me $400 a month MORE next year. It makes my brain hurt.
