There seems to be a lot of mention of "getting dressed". By this do you mean dressing up, actually putting on clothing for the first time that day or what? I guess when I dress in the morning that is typically what I wear for the day. No way am I dressing up/changing to eat with my in laws in my own home. Fwiw I decided my dad and stepmom were lucky enough I was cooking for them and the house was relatively neat that I skipped a shower in favor of reading and then realized 5 minutes before they came that Id never put any makeup on today because I hadn't left the house and I didn't even change anyone, myself included, out of pjs until nap time.
Depending on when they're coming, I might not have ever gotten dressed for the day. Or they're coming to babysit, so I'm getting ready to go out. Or they're coming for a party/event and I'm changing because I've been cooking & cleaning all day. If they were just coming to dinner/hang out, I wouldn't be getting dressed up.

I meant literally first time I had showered or dressed today. It was a cleaning and laundry day, and I was putting it off until the bathroom was clean and I had clean clothes. Otherwise, unless it's a special occasion, I just wear what I'd been wearing all day. I might change into a clean shirt and run a comb through my hair, but I'm not going all out. Dirty sweats, a sweaty tank, and my sleeping bra are a little too casual, though.
We always just put on pajamas first thing in the morning; if someone is coming over (in-laws or anyone else) we get dressed meaning we put on cothes instead of pj's.
I've only met my in-laws once, when they came for our wedding (they live very far away). When they came to stay at my condo for those few days, though, I just wore my pj's around the house (they did too). I think I might have put an extra layer of tank top on, though.
I do not dress up for parents or ILs. Neither does MH. And FWIW, even if we get "dressed up" for a holiday, it usually means wearing nice jeans and not a t-shirt.
My ILs are funny though. When they stay with us, they knock around in sweats and PJs most of the time. but when they go to the doctor for check-ups, I kid you not, my 65yo FIL dons a three-piece suit. It's the strangest thing.
I'm usually dressed unless I'm feeling lazy. Dressed sometimes means yoga pants and a hoodie. The kids usually are dressed since we have school or activities most days. I would not dress up for my inlaws. They come over in sweat pants and flannel so I see no need.

I'm weird (duh). Even if I have no intentions of getting out of pjs that day I will take a shower and get ready...only to go back to pjs. I get dressed if someone comes to my house no matter who. It may only be yoga pants and a plain fitted long sleeved tee but I can't sit in pjs with company over.
I only hang out in my pj/s on Saturdays usually. I was in the process of dressing and mess cleaning up when my relatives arrived. I don't dress up but I'm usually dressed.
My MIL gets up and gets dressed (nice clothes, hair, makeup) every morning whether she has something planned or not. SIL and I always make fun of her because we like to lounge around in yoga pants if we don't have any plans.
I do not "get dressed" for my ILs and/or parents. However, I also don't lay around in pajamas all day. I think I only own one pair of actual pajamas, everything else I wear is workout clothes (sleep in shorts and a tank).
I don't do pjs all day unless I'm terribly sick or something. I almost always get dressed for the day and have makeup on before DS is up and/or dressed. He stays in pjs if he's sick or we aren't going anywhere. So pretty much we are dressed and ready by 7:30 am daily during the week before we have breakfast and then on weekends we all get dressed and ready after breakfast.
