These days, I'd say maybe once or twice tops. Reasons being, I'm not working, so no business travel. DH and I are back in the same place, so no traveling to see him. When we do travel, I'd say 90% of the time, it's to see family and they're in driving distance.
So far this year I have flown for pleasure once and for business twice, and we are flying for pleasure next week. So I will fly four times in the first quarter of the year. I am aware of three more flights for pleasure and one more flight for business this year that will definitely happen, so that is eight definite trips this year. We have a couple additional possible fun trips in the works, and I expect at least 2-3 more work trips to come up. So now that I think about it, I very well may end up past 12 this year.

I only fly once every year or two on average. When it was just myself and DH, we would fly to visit my family and for some vacations. Now that we have two kids who also need plane tickets, it's a lot more economical to drive if we can get to our destination with two or fewer days of driving each way.
I fly at least once, usually twice a month, most for pleasure. When I worked in consulting, I flew 126 segments (so like 60 round trips) in one year, and at least 100 segments another few years. I am a million-miler with American and have probably 500,000 points combined on other airlines, though I am starting to use them. I have enough Hyatt points to stay for a month at any Park Hyatt or probably 6 months at a Hyatt Place.
We are the same way but with Marriott reward points. We have enough to move into a Residence Inn for a good 6-9 months or so. We always say that if worst comes to worst and we wind up homeless, we can move into a Marriott property until we are back on our feet.
My ILs have 3x as many reward points as we do. They regularly pay $300 a night to stay at a Renaissance near my SIL rather than using their points because they are "saving" the points so they will be able to travel when my FIL is retired. I do not for the life of me understand why they don't save the money now and just invest the savings. It is weird hoarding behavior.
I probably fly on average 3x/year for pleasure- once "home" (parents and Inlaws are in the Midwest), and twice for vaca. 1-2x/year for work, it's used to be a lot more.
This year I'll fly to NY, Denver and New Orleans for pleasure. No plans to fly home but it may happen.
I have a work trip to St. Louis this month and I'll probably fly to CA at least once.
I usually fly 6-7 times per year on average. DH, on the other hand, travels frequently for business. He takes at least 1 trip per month which requires a flight, but usually it's 2-3. He actually flew out today. He is usually gone 50+ nights per year (he has been for the past 3+ years). It's nice for the Marriott points. I like to take advantage of the airport lounges and hotel benefits when we travel together
ETA: A couple of my trips over the past year were open jaws and/or multiple destinations before returning home- so not entirely sure how to count those.
If you fly very infrequently (let's say less than one flight every two years on average), what keeps you from flying? Fear? Inconvenience of airports? Price? Prefer to travel by car? Don't feel like traveling that far?
We have 3 kids (2 on the spectrum). We don't do airports, airplanes, or hotels for various reasons dealing with elopement, safety, routine, meltdowns dealing with waiting. We bought a travel trailer and truck that we drive around the East Coast as our vacations since it is child proofed for my kids and very familiar. Our last trip on a plane was 2010 and don't plan on any plane trips for many years until I can be certain that the trip won't be stressful for all.
@shoegal sorry to hear that the other organization is a no-go.
I fly 1-2 times/ year, always for pleasure. Arizona 2x last spring, WA State in February and Europe in May this year. But the rest of the time it's way more convenient for us to drive.
I fly a lot, mostly for work and a few trips a year for leisure. H and I sometimes choose to travel by car for some trips because we bring our dog, it can be cheaper, and liking road trips.
My work trips are domestic and to unexciting places. It's a lot of BBQ (weirdly) and Friday nights spent with Lean Cuisine and TLC in a Hilton.
The last few years I had a job with extensive travel domestic/Canada - so I easily made the 25 flights per year category. I took a new job (1x per year travel) and we bought a vacation property last year that requires a flight and I've already been out there 3 times since the start of 2015, with 3 more trips planned to just that destination, and 2 other vacations planned. add in a wedding and more trips to the vacation property in the fall and I will easily make the 13-24 category this year. I love flying, we have the means to do so right now, and I love seeing new places. I don't mind road trips, but I'd rather maximize my vacation time at my destination vs in the car.
So far this year it has been at least once a month. And that trend is looking to continue for the rest of the year. All are business trips... I add a day or two for pleasure and hoping one trip will be for pleasure only.
Which reminds me.... I need to get me a rewards card for miles.
Once a year. My husband doesn't get much vacation time. Plus it is expensive once you factor in the flights, hotels, transportation, entertainment, food, and dog boarding. Both of us would love to travel more, but it's just not really possible right now. Neither of us get to fly for work.
Most of my work travel is within 3 hours from my workplace, so I drive.
DH's family is a 7-8 hour drive. We drive because we've been driving the route for so long we're used to it. Our local airport is small and doesn't have many direct flights. So to fly to them it'd be about $600-$800 in airline tickets + layovers + a rental car. So not really a huge time saver or money saver. It's the same way when we go see some of my family.
I like driving. Although I'll never drive west. No fucking corn states for me. We fly there and then road trip.

I fly once evey couple of years maybe. I don't travel for work and my family is within driving distance - like 3 hours. I'm single and kind of poor and I only get 10 vacation days a year so I don't get to go on many trips. The last time I flew was almost 3 years ago I went to visit my sister when she was living in Italy. I have no idea when I will fly next but it will probably be a while.
it varies for me a lot, year to year. I used to fly a lot more often, but now I fly more like 1-2 times per year. Part of this is because my lifestyle changed (baby!), but it is also because I've grown to loathe flying. I used to sort of enjoy it, but I feel like airlines have gotten so shitty and (US) airports are just a total nightmare of lines and hassle. I hate being nickle and dimed for everything. I hate how they've made everyone have to cram all their shit into carry-on luggage to avoid baggage fees, so it feels like the whole plane is bursting at the seams.
My real problem is the airports, the delays and the hassle though. We are driving to my folks place next month (9 hours each way vs a 1.5 hour direct flight...with a toddler!) because navigating through LAX basically has become so unpleasant that we'd rather drive. Last time we took this flight (in August), we arrived at the airport 2.5 hours before our flight and still missed it, thanks to American Airlines being shitty and messing up our tickets (so no self check-in, which meant endless lines and being ping-ponged all over the place with no one actually helping us), security being the same as it always is (aka--slow!), and American Airlines being extra, super duper shitty with their stupid terminal out in the middle of nowhere and a stupid bus that never freaking comes. When we finally did reach the ends of the earth gate, the people there were super rude...it was just awful! Sorry for ranting, I just get ragey thinking about it
I haven't minded my international flights nearly as much in recent years, so perhaps my issue is tied specifically to LAX and American Airlines (which is the airline that has all the convenient/affordable flights to my little airport).
I chose 1-2 times per year. We typically take two trips per year that require flying. One domestic and one international. I don't have to fly for work and all the other little trips we take are within driving distance.
I think the last time I flew was a business trip to Vegas in July 2013. I've traveled so much and my last job I flew 2-3 times a month. I'm just so over flying for so many reasons. When we go in vacation these days I try to drive.
Maybe 1-2 times/year? Almost always personal/leisure.
I usually travel 1-2 times/year for work, but it's been several years since that's been a flying destination. My last business flight was to Seattle in 2011. I actually don't think we've flown since our trip to Europe two years ago. After that I got pregnant, and I know we haven't flown with Ben...
I don't mind flying, but I'm reluctant to do so with a toddler, so we've kind of pledged to stick with domestic, drive-able destinations for the next few years. We'll pick up with international travel when we have older kids.
In 2014 H and I flew twice. Once to see my family and once to see his. Usually we only fly maybe 1x/year. We're going to try and make it for sure 1x/year because we are rarely seeing H's family and he realized they weren't getting any younger (grandparents & parents) so wants to make that more of a priority.
I've come to loath the descending part of flying. The pressure in my ears is horrendous no matter what I do to combat it. If anyone has any solutions I'd be grateful.
@shoegal- I was wondering how the prospective job had turned out. It's a bummer it required relocation. I'm sure that would be hard not only BC of your H's job, but especially considering all your hard work on your basement!
