I always want to ask these people what someone in my position, with period symptoms so severe I wouldn't be able to hold a job, should do. Pray my cramps away?
This made me hoot out loud: There is simply nothing better than sex with one’s spouse without condoms or any form of contraception, with the exception of the Mass.

Arbor, I just read your blog and saw more lovelies like Mike whom you are attracting regularly. Please be careful, ok? Your name is out there, your picture. Just, careful.

I think you are supposed to be a SAHM and suffer every month for Eve's sins. And if you were a good woman, that would be all you wanted out of life.

So, this one time I was waiting for a table for a friend's (dry) 21st birthday dinner, and a crazy friend of hers starts talking about what childbirth was like before eve. I'd never heard of such curse, so I asked a few question just to even understand the line of thought. I also asked how there was childbirth before eve if she was first, but I didn't get an answer. I also asked how it would be painless with, you know, big head, small hole. But I was told maybe babies were born earlier. Or smaller. Whatever, god made it work. I have no idea what started the conversation since of course everyone (self excepted) was a virgin.
You can imagine how quickly I ordered a drink once we sat down. My college experience was weird.

Just don't not be pregnant ever, I guess.
Also - is natural family planning not considered a form of contraception?

I think the popular argument is that, if God wanted you KU, he would just interrupt your natural family planning plans. No latex or hormones to hold him back. Or something like that. I guess that's also a handy explanation for broken condoms and other oopsie babies.

Similar to how god got you (general you) to planned parenthood safely.
This: and this and this and this and this and, well, rolling on the floor laughing.
It's definitely worth at least a quick perusal, especially the comments towards the end.
Maybe it's me, but I'm not following this. Can someone give me the background on this? Because it might explain some of the comments in this thread.
1Flesh is a group of college kids with a VERY slick (like, no, really, I'm kind of in awe of it) marketing campaigning pushing for a very specific form of NFP (The Creighton Model - which actually has a typical use rate of ~65%, but whatever). If that was ALL they were doing, no one would care.
The problem is that they're also pushing out lies and inaccuracies about other forms of contraception to scare people (presumably teens and other young people) away from those other forms, e.g. saying that BCPs cause breast cancer (they don't), that BCP destroy the environment (they don't), that condoms don't prevent unplanned pregnancy (LOLZ), that condoms don't lower the rate of STIs (LOLZ), that condoms don't prevent the spread of HIV (super LOLZ), etc, etc, etc.
I've yet to met anyone who cares that these kids are promoting NFP. If you want to use NFP as your form of birth control, get on with your bad sexy self. What I, and many other people, are taking issue with is the lies that they are propagating about other forms of contraception, and how those lies are endangering lives.
The original post on the page was actually partly in response to a rebuttal on my blog I'd posted about their inaccuracies concerning BC and breast cancer (they changed their post a bit because of it, though it's still filled with inaccuracies), and the comments after their post turned into the "Mike spews insanity" that you see now.

Does that help?
After peeking at their crazy site, I'm really impressed that you got them to change their post at all. good for you.

So much this. These people seemed unhinged.
This didn't cross my mind until now - yes, be very careful.
ETA: I just saw the bumper sticker idea:
"QUIT TRYING TO RUIN SEX Keep your latex off my penis!"
:-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| and a couple +o( +o( for good measure.
To the ladies currently responding on the prolife blog, THANK YOU. You guys are awesomesauce.
And thanks for the concern about my safety. I actually really do appreciate it.
I was super freaked out when Operation Rescue started tweeting at me (as in I really did start looking over my shoulder), but so far I'm not getting any direct threats, only nasty names thrown my way. It's not going to get any better with some of the new projects I'm working on to protect women's reproductive choice, but until I start receiving actual threats (or until my name and pic show up on OR's new "look at these evil people, they should die, but, no, we don't mean you should kill them" site), I'm going to keep plugging away. Because this is important.
Yes, because there is no way for you to work for reproductive choice (and my god is it ridiculous that it's always only about the woman) without everyone and their 14 year old brother knowing your full name and face.

Ya know what, Emmy? Fuck off.
I know you've been through some rough shit, but I'm tired of you being an asshole on the board for no fucking reason.
My name and face is out there because it's getting me known in the repro rights world. I'm being connected to some other top bloggers and some top orgs who now know me now because of it, and my credibility is VASTLY increased because my name and face is out there.
If OR or any other org wanted to find me out, they have the resources to do it even if I was using an alias, so it's not as if it would make me any safer.
And, even if it did, was a nasty comment from you really fucking necessary?
p.s. as for why it's always women's reproductive choice, it's because men's reproductive choice isn't under attack right now. I still work to make sure that men have access to information, and I'm working with a contraceptive org to provide free condoms of various sizes and types to men so that they can find a brand that works for them. I also fully support PP and other orgs efforts to make sure that men (as well as women) get testing and treatment for STIs. But, no, men's "choice" is not under attack right now, so I'm focusing on women. Hope that helps your understanding.

Arbor, I will totally back you up here. I think it's amazing that you're able to respond to such public and bizarre attacks from the 1Flesh people, as well as those who have found your twitter, and maintain a level head while providing thoughtful and researched responses. I have absolutely no problem with you doing so publicly if this is how you choose to do so. There are certainly public bloggers and social advocates out there who put their names and contact info out there for the world to see. While it isn't a choice everyone will or should make, it is still your choice and your right and I support you. I have seen no evidence that you have any malicious intent in doing this, so more power to you.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

First of all, is it at all possible for you to simply stick to the topic at hand and not try to deflect it by taking this outside the thread topic and making it a judgment on my behavior on the board as a whole? Doing so makes you look weak---unless, as suggested by your entire online persona, that is your intent?
Second, my comment to you was no more or less "necessary" than this entire thread was in the first place. What is completely unnecessary is to bring my personal life into it. You are free to trust tree the shit out of wherever you please, but I don't, and don't need you doing it for me--- particularly since you have no knowledge of my personal life.
And lastly: if reproductive rights are under attack, they are under attack for both men and women. It takes two to reproduce. Just because the woman takes on the bulk of the responsibility in the matter doesn't mean it doesn't affect men too.
