just a firs time mom, but my dresser is 6 drawer. Left side: top: PJ's, swaddle sacks, swaddle me middle: 0-3 month clothing bottom: 9 month clothing and up
Right side: top: socks, crocheted coccoon/hat, tights, diaper cover (will probably get changed) Middle: 6 month clothing bottom: changing pad covers, swaddle blankets
My hospital bag will be this large duffle like bag of DH's.
Top: swaddlers, sleep sacks, burp cloths, bibs Middle: NB clothes Bottom: 0-3mo clothes Baskets on shelves: socks & hats; shoes (ridiculous, but I have so many as gifts from DD1); diapers/wipes
My hospital bag is similar to a weekend bag - it's my LLL gym bag. A backpack for h. I also packed a diaper bag for DD, even though it only has a couple of things in it, but I wanted room to stuff all of the hospital goodies in to bring home.
1) Not sure yet, we still need to order our dresser.
2) I plan to pack a rolling carryon suitcase. I think it will be easier than having to carry a shoulder bag in addition to the baby in a carrier and all the other stuff I bet we'll be bringing back with us. Plus it is pretty big so I figure we can get everythign we need into one suitcase, again minimizing the number of things we have to juggle. H can just roll it to and from the car when he is parking it.

1. I bought Baby a three drawer dresser. Do you have a system for using the drawers? Example: blankets on the bottom, sleepers on the top, etc.?
We had/have the Hemnes 3 drawer dresser. I also have the shelf boxes from Ikea. So what we did was diapers, wipes, bibs, hats, and burp cloths in the top drawer. The middle drawer had onesies/sleepers/socks. And the bottom drawer had sheets/sleep sacks.
2. What does your hospital bag look like? Is it like? Is like a weekend bag or a small piece of luggage?
I just used a weekend bag. I knew I'd be in a hospital gown for most of my time there, so really it didn't need to be a full set of luggage with several sets of clothing. Just a couple nursing tanks, yoga pants, socks, electronics, toiletry case, and baby book. (And a sock stuffed with rice)
We have a 6 drawer dresser left side is onesies and pants smallest on top down to biggest. Right side is some cloth diaper stuff on top with pacifiers, middle is swaddles and some swaddles, bottom I think has big clothes.
Basically, we use almost nothing in the dresser at present. The baby wears sleepers that are hung in the closet and uses Halo sacks. We have 4 or 5 and they are just sitting in his crib (he sleeps elsewhere.)
I am a big advocate of snap front sleepers for newborns, btw. Especially when it's at all cool.
Potentially the most useless thing we have are a million hats. It's not really recommended babies wear hats except outside. We keep one hat in his car seat. No need for the literally 30 little hats I tossed in a box today:).
What I used: A lightweight jersey robe, one pair jersey pants, two maternity t-shirts, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and brush, hair brush and elastics, deodorant, nursing bra to go home, clean socks to go home since it was cold.
I wore a hospital gown most of the time and entirely wore the mesh underwear. I went home in those. I did sit in a tshirt and mesh underwear part of the time.
The towels sucked, but I really wouldn't have wanted to get blood on my ones from home though.
I did not leave my room. I had a catheter immediately upon arrival, so I couldn't walk. Maybe an extra pair of socks and sturdy slippers if you can walk during labor.
One more thought--pay attention to the hospital temp when you go on a tour. My hospital was hot as hell, so I didn't need things like a fuzzy robe or extra socks:)
1. I bought Baby a three drawer dresser. Do you have a system for using the drawers? we have two dressers: a tall 4 drawer one: top drawer - newborn sized clothing and mitts 2nd drawer - 0-3 month clothing 3rd drawer - 3-6 month clothing 4th drawer - 6-9 month clothing the nicer and larger size clothing is hanging in the closet long 6 drawer dresser: right side top to bottom - first aid stuff and burp cloths hooded towels and wash cloths empty (!) left side top to bottom - socks, swaddler/sleep sac type items, hats blankets more blankets and sheets
We are also going to have a 9 cube organizer in the closet for more crap, lol!
2. What does your hospital bag look like? Is it like? Is like a weekend bag or a small piece of luggage? I haven't packed it yet - but it will be one of my many "Thirty-One" bags/tote. Just something with a decent sized compartment and pockets on the outside. I will also pack a diaper bag for baby.

FYI for all you first timers-you probably want to find a spot in your kitchen for bibs. We kept a few that matched outfits in her room so when I was planning her outfits I could grab those if needed but her everyday multi color bibs we kept in a plastic container from ikea in the pantry. She ate out there most of the time so it made the most sense. We also kept a stack of burp cloths (cloth diapers) because she was a major spitter-upper.
