He would never get the nomination. He's too librul since he doesn't think black teenagers should be shot on sight. link
I knoooooow and that makes me so sad!! Like, what the fuck happened between the 90's and now that he's considered basically a Democrat?!
I don't think he's changed much. He may have gotten more vocal since he no longer has to work in the system. He's always been moderate but since the party has moved further to the right he's closer to being a dem than a rep anymore.
I have a slightly different view on this. I happen to think that almost all human behavior is some combination of nature and nurture, even if it's 80/20 or 99/1. So, while I think that sexual orientation is mostly biological, I'm not denying that there aren't some cultural or experiential factors that could nudge us a bit one direction or the other on the Kinsey scale. I realize that's a dangerous position because the crazies will jump to "Oh my god! Gay people will definitely make their kids gay!" or "You can just change your sexual orientation then!" but I think sexual orientation far more complex than that. For that reason, I'd never express the nature/nurture thing around someone who is anti-gay. I'm just not ruling out nurture entirely in nudging someone who is, for example, naturally "straightish" into "fully straight" or someone who is naturally bisexual into "mostly gay."
THAT SAID, (and this is the really important part in my mind) being a Seventh Day Adventist is also a choice. Having 3 kids is also a choice. That doesn't mean that I get to discriminate against Ben Carson based on his religion or familial status. Quite frankly, I don't care if someone was gay in the womb or "became that way in prison" (as if!) Sexual orientation should be a protected class regardless.

Excellent point, 5thofjuly- Carson's own party is the one always crowing about FREEEEEEEDOM! As a rule, no one should be discriminated against for their choices unless those choices demonstrably harm someone else.

Every time one of these doofuses speak I picture them dangling out the back window of a drunken clown car veering all over, as someone on here described.
He's created an exploratory committee to run for PRESIDENT.
Right, but he's not doing it because he thinks he can actually be elected president so I assume he's trying to get his name out there for an appointment or a lucrative couple of years as a speaker.
Unfortunately he's polling second or third among Rs.
I don't think he'll get the nomination at all, but he's not as right-wing crazy as you might think. Or, actually, he is, but that's apparently not a bad thing to many likely voters.
Ughhh, I had high hopes for him because I thought with his extensive medical/science background he could bring something new to the GOP ticket. I've read all of his books and his story is inspiring but dang...guess not...
Ben Carson, one of America’s top neurosurgeons and a potential Republican candidate for president, said on CNN that prison proves homosexuality is a choice, adding “because a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight—and when they come out, they’re gay. So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question.” Carson said he thinks same-sex couples should have the same legal rights as heterosexual couples, but without the title of marriage. “Why can’t any two human beings, I don’t care what their sexual orientation is, why can’t they have the legal right to do those things? That does not require changing the definition of marriage.”
omgggg, why are we arguing about a stupid word now?!
