We did 3 weeks notice via paper invites and have only heard two responses through Facebook PMs. I gave my telephone number, so I guess FB PMs are becoming the norm around here.
So we have a party this Sat. and besides the grandparents, we're only aware of two families showing up. I've had it with lack of interest in RSVPing, this happens every birthday with people. Either there's no response and they show up or they RSVP 15 minutes before the party starts to say they are skipping out.
This seems like a silly thing to judge. I don't remember the time frame for when I sent out DD's bday invitation, but it was probably at least 4 weeks out, maybe more. Also, she has 29 kids in her class and I invited family friends too, so there were a lot of people invited (FOR A SEVEN YEAR OLD!).
How do you even know if the people on the list are or are not family?
Jeez. You don't like how early the invite was sent, you think they invited too many people... Who cares how many people they invited? Don't RSVP until you want to. Some people like to throw parties and look forward to it.
Seriously. this thread is so odd. Six weeks is a normal amount of time. People have busy lives and schedules fill up quickly. As for judging the number of invitees...um, really?
Threads like this give me a complex about everything because somebody is always fucking judging.
I just cannot get over looking at an invite list and being mad about it. Who cares. It's not your party. Don't invite 40 people to a party when your kid turns 6.

Wet blanket.
I know what you mean. I like to believe people in real life don't waste the mental energy on all the ridiculousness that is posted here.
