My poor little DD2 has a nasty hemorrhoid that I can see, and maybe another one more on the inside which I can't see. Watching her try to poop is so sad and she's obviously in such pain. The pedi said to wait it out for a couple weeks, offer lots of juice, dried fruit and it should improve. A couple weeks is this Friday and it's honestly no better. She doesn't really like juice, but I try to sneak it in. I give her prunes, raisins, dates, olives etc. with every meal. And also a prune pouch. The stool isn't really that hard, it's just that it really hurts her to get it out.
Anyway, my question is, anyone have any other food suggestions to help make things easier for her? Experience anything like this before? Any foods you think I should totally avoid? I've cut back on her banana eating, but otherwise, she's eating as normal, just with lots of dried fruit and olives.

Are you putting topical ointment on it? I'd ask your pedi about if preparation h or similar is safe for kids to use. Getting the swelling down should help the process. DS2 has had some small tears and we just used cortisone on him but he didn't have much swelling. Witch hazel can also help, but can also sting if there's an open cut.
We've never had a hemmroid but when the boys are struggling I give them undiluted Apple juice. Also melons and other watery fruit seems to make things easier. Is she hydrated enough?
Thanks all - good suggestions. I'm going to start making lots of smoothies with peaches, pears, kale, spinach, etc. I talked to the nurse practitioner today and she said to just keep on trying with what I have been and making sure she gets lots of fresh fruits and veggies and water. She seemed to think oatmeal wasn't really helpful? Weird. I think she's hydrated enough but I'm going to let her start walking around with her water bottle all day. She also mentioned that I could use tucks pads or witch hazel for diaper changes. They want me to give it another 2 weeks. It just makes me to watch her try to poop.
Poor thing! We have a friend that no matter what he eats he is always constipated. His parents have to give him miralax everyday and it's still a production to go potty.
We had to give dd Miralax for a while. We eventually switched to a probiotic for kids. It seems to help and doesn't change the texture or taste of her milk or water.
