Apparently we weren't even in the running (this round was between San Francisco and Chicago, I believe -- maybe Boston too), and my emails to the Nando's gods have gone unanswered.

RockNVoll, the appeal is that it's tasty and cheap! H and I usually do Nando's as our pre theater dinner. We can get dinner and a bottle of wine for $50. And we can find a table at 6:45 on a Friday!

This, plus I salute any restaurant where I can get French fries and garlic bread together on one plate.
I'll admit - I went to a Nando's in Hong Kong (work trip, it was near the hotel), and it just wasn't that good. It was OK, but nothing to write home about...
I loved it when I went in London in 2007. When I was back in 2012, I didn't think it was very good. I will not be joining the campaign to bring it to SF.
I haven't had Nando's since I lived in the UK...so at least 12 years. I loved it then, it was a favorite - I hope it lives up to my fond memories! I'll be checking in next time I'm in Chicago!
I wish I loved Nandos, but I do not. A few of the sides are good, but we have a ton of local preuvian chicken places I prefer.
What are the best ones?
My problem is that I hate driving around here, which means there are lots of good restaurants I have never contemplated.
Nando's is like three steps from theater, which is when we go most often. It's so easy to manage between work and ab 8pm curtain. It's also close to my therapist so we can get takeout.
Close to the theater and my therapist. LOL. How bougie can I be?

Ha, yes I don't get the absolute love for Nandos, but I don't get the hate either. My son loves it because the kids meal comes with ice cream/frozen yogurt and there is a large elephant in the place near us. I do get tired of it so when RockNVoll comes around, I use her as an excuse not to go.
We tried the Nando's in Annapolis, I don't get the hype. Nothing was so good I just had to go back for it. Now the burger and garlic fries at Gordon Biersch? Gimme some!
Mmm I love Gordon Biersch and those fries! We go there at least once a week in the summer. Only thing better is Victorias Gastro Pub's herby duck fat fries.
Anyways, what do people order at Nandos? My H and I went there once, and neither of our meals were worth returning again for. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing?
Our favorite is the chicken sandwich served on garlic bread with cole slaw on it. I find the slaw a little bland on its own, but it's a great complement to the chicken on the sandwich. I'm also sort of obsessed with slaw on sandwiches.
