I recently bought a can of Batiste dry shampoo, since my hair gets super-greasy if I go more than 24 hours between washes.
I used it this morning and followed the directions on the can. It made my roots really white and I had to comb it in for a while before the white was gone. Then it flaked off and looked like dandruff. I have my hair tied up today, but I used it last week with my hair down and within about an hour or so it was looking greasy again.
Are there any tricks to using this, or is my experience typical?
I had to play around with it the first couple tries and even watched a youtube video on it. I found that if I sprayed farther away from my head and then rubbed it in right away, it didn't flake or leave a white residue.
Eh, that's kind of typical. My hair doesn't usually get greasy again, though, so soon. Like, I can rub it in, but if I scratch my scalp or something, I'll get some white residue under my nail.
I've also tried this one, which is kind of like a cross between a gentle hairspray and a dry shampoo. Hairspray kind of dries your roots (from the alcohol), too, as long as you get one that's more of a texturizer than the "80s crunchy mall bangs" type.
I put it in before I shower, and the bit of dampness I think helps dilute the white. Then I blow dry/style as usual. My problem is my bangs, so I spray the top of my bangs, at the root, then flip them up, pin them back and spray on the underside.
This is super gross, but I last washed my hair on Saturday. Yes, it is Friday. Sleep > washing hair.
