linz, L wouldn't sleep in the crib for naps until around 8 months. All naps were in the FP newborn to toddler rocker. He went down fine at night in the crib but when I tried during the day, it was like I was putting him down on a bed of nails or something.
whiskeyandwine, I did one and found it helpful but mine was free through the health department. If you don't do one, make sure you watch done videos demonstrating different positions, correct latch, and what it looks and sounds like when a baby is nursing properly. That is stuff you can't find in a book.
namasteak, we have the Sili Squeeze and it works quite well.
Did you continue to try? I got C to fall asleep in my arms and then he laid down but I had to do it very slowly. A slept in the swing which I do a lot otherwise she wakes early.

linz, yeah I would try every once and awhile but if he wasn't having it, then I just put him back in the rocker. Eventually he stopped freaking out and now he naps in the crib all the time. But like I said, it wasn't until after 8 months. Before then, he could've been in a dead sleep but as soon as I laid him in the crib he would freak right out. At night time he was fine.
My kid has now pooped on the potty twice. Does this mean she's starting to PT? Is there an app for the bathrooms at Disney?
How old? Not necessarily. If you're going to Disney during potty training or even shortly after I definitely recommend pull ups. I am never usually in the pull up camp but at Disney bathrooms aren't always super close, if you're in line for or on a ride you're kind of screwed and they are usually so busy having fun that they forget to tell you!
I'm not sure if I would have done it for $100 but like a few PPs have said, my H got a lot out of it and I knew that was his only chance because he wasn't going to read a bf book (he's not a big reader). I wanted him to have the same info that I did so that he could help and remind me of stuff and be knowledgeable about it, etc. I think it did help him a lot and was good for me too like I said before. If you have the $100 I would do it, but if not, you'll be fine too.
Any tips for taming my 3 month old's claws? I file them down as far as I can but he still wakes up every morning with scratches on his face.
Have you tried cutting them? I use the yellow piyo scissor on DS's nails. (When he is asleep). Sometimes they are still sharp but it cuts back on scratching.

Thank you so much for the feedback, everybody! I think if I am struggling I can see the LC at my pedi, which makes me feel better. I'm pretty sure if it doesn't work I will be ok with not having taken the class, but I also like to have all the info about everything so maybe I should just stick to it. I think I will read a book and watch some videos and then see how I am feeling about the process.
What is the safest way to bathe a squirmy baby? DD still falls over a lot when sitting up unassisted, but she has made it her life mission to wiggle off her infant seat. Can I put a bumbo-type seat in the bath?

I haven't tried cutting with nail scissors, only clippers. The one time I tried clippers I got the skin on the tip if his thumb :/. Been too afraid to try again since. I'll give the scissors a try though.

If you have a high energy toddler, what TV shows hooks their attention? So far he will sit still for the Super Bowl halftime show and the end of Muppets Take Manhattan. Are we doomed to watch nothing but cartoon musicals for the next few years?

Can you find a small porous laundry basket and put her in it?

Good luck! I wait until they are a little long and then cut them. I feel like I have more control with the scissors than with the clippers.
1. We transitioned to cribs and they are still swaddled. When I got up to feed them they both had wiggled their way down so their feet were almost to the other end. We have one side elevated and I don't think its too steep. Do some babies just move that much? I wouldn't care except I couldn't see DD on the monitor bc she was too far down.
Why do you have them elevated? Colds? If you have them elevated just because, I would stop elevating them.

Just to transition from RNP. I didn't plan to keep it that way long.

DS1's favorite was Micky Mouse Clubhouse. We would also YouTube nursery songs and show him that.
Or you could bite the big one and introduce him to Yo Gabba Gabba. That was also a fave of DS1 but it made our ears bleed.
whiskeyandwine I never took a class dedicated to BFing, but it was one night of our childbirth class. I didn't get that much out of the class, but I learned a ton from the nurses at the hospital and the LC. I had two visits from an LC to check his latch and answer any questions, plus most of my nurses wanted to see his latch and watch him breastfeed to make sure everything was going ok. Honestly it was a little annoying at the time, but I'm glad they pushed it because I got good advice and tips from each of them. I definitely credit the nurses and LC for how well breastfeeding went for us.
linz C sucks his hands, and I don't like it either. He gags himself with his hand sometimes and spits up, plus I really don't want him to be a thumb sucker, so I've been trying to redirect him with his paci. It works sometimes, but he still does it a lot. I'm glad to know it's normal baby behavior
Did you take a BF class before your baby was born? If so, was it helpful?
linz - I don't think I'd mess w/ the hand sucking thing. I bet she'll outgrow it when she's ready, but right now it's probably just comforting. I'm not help on the other stuff.
Yes. And I think it is morehelpful for DH but I learned a lot too. My dh was game for a class that take three hours. He was not good about reading the books. Having a supportive partner during nursing is a huge help, especially the first few weeks.
For the book route, the nursing mothers companion is by far and away the best book. It's informative and helpful but not judgy. It doesn't proclaim formula is evil. It gives tips and is an easy read.
Is it possible for a child to love breakfast and lunch but hate dinner? Idk why dinner is such a struggle. He eats great throughout the rest of the day.
linz just this weekend dd started to nap in her crib. I've been trying to follow the 2-3-4 schedule loosely. She cried for 10 minutes each time but then did take two good naps in there.
@notquiteblushing yes IMO. He's probably just done eating at that point. As long as he is happy and ate enough during the day I wouldn't fight him.
C is 11 wks old. I'm not sure what his naps should look like. It seems that he'll only nap for 45 min tops unless I walk him in the baby carrier (which I just stopped doing because I want to start a routine of him napping in his room...right now he's in the RNP, although I did try the crib yesterday and got a 20 min nap from him).
I'm thinking of trying for 3 naps and seeing how that goes. He woke up at 6:30 today (somehow he got DST when going to bed last night but not this morning), started nap at 7:40/down at 8/slept for 45 min. Thinking Nap 2 at 12:00 and Nap 3 at 3:00. Bedtime is 6:30/7. Thoughts? When can I move to a 2-3-4 schedule? Also, any suggestions to try to get him to nap longer (he's swaddled, RNP, darkish room, white noise, paci sometimes)?

Is she staying up for four hours in the evening? M would be a hot mess if he stayed up that long.
rbp no, not yet. It's close to 3 hours at this time. During the week though after DC she falls asleep on the way home about half of the days and takes a 20 minute cat nap close to her bed time.

This was our daily routine:
8ish up - bottle
930 nap
11 - bottle
1230 - nap
2 - bottle
330/4 - nap
5 - bottle
6ish cat nap for 30-45 minutes
730 - bottle and bedtime.
They just recently dropped the evening nap. They needed it otherwise they were a hot mess. They sometimes sleep all the way until the next feeding and sometimes wake 30 minutes early. If I leave and go somewhere they will stay asleep in their car seats till the next feeding so I know they're capable of sleeping 1 1/2 hours. They've slept 2 hours before if the previous nap sucked.
I think the 2-3-4 schedule is later. I'm not worrying about that until they start solids and will be able to drop to 2 naps. Right now they for sure need 3 naps.
luv2rn4fun Check out the Moms On Call schedule. I started that with E around 6 weeks and it worked really well for us.
She started transitioning from 3 naps to 2 naps around 5 months, and is now getting close to 2-3-4 on her own at almost 6 months.
Thank you! I just did a little research on this...I think one of the big problems is that he keeps wanting to eat every 2 hours, sometimes I can push to 2-2:15, rarely 2:30 and never 3 hrs. Maybe if I start his nap time later in the feed/play/sleep cycle he'll eventually catch on? He is sleeping decent at night (for the most part...averaging 2 wakeups) so I'm a little worried to change things up too much but know that we need to work towards good daytime and nighttime sleep...and, in his room.

How long does it take you to get them asleep? C will not fall asleep on his own, although he's getting better at drowsy but awake (I don't have to have him 100% passed out to put him down and he can self soothe back to sleep at night, just not during the day for some reason). Would you start the nap early in hope that they'll be down at the scheduled nap time or start the nap at the scheduled time (for example 12:00 for the 12:30 nap or just start it at 12:30)?
