How long does it take you to get them asleep? C will not fall asleep on his own, although he's getting better at drowsy but awake (I don't have to have him 100% passed out to put him down and he can self soothe back to sleep at night, just not during the day for some reason). Would you start the nap early in hope that they'll be down at the scheduled nap time or start the nap at the scheduled time (for example 12:00 for the 12:30 nap or just start it at 12:30)?
That's how mine are. At night they can be awake and fall asleep. During day I used to rock them in RNP but now they're in cribs so I have to rock them in my arms and then lay them down carefully. I start nap at 12:30 or whenever they start to get crabby which is usually around then. A lot of times it takes me 15 minutes to get them down. Naps suck.
And that's usually for DS. DD likes to take a 15 minute nap and wake her brother so she is in the swing a lot during the day. She falls asleep almost instantly from movement.

Ditto! I just put C down and it took 20 minutes and then another 10 minutes of rocking the RNP/patting his stomach. I'm actually surprised he's still asleep. I am so sick of doing naps. Does your DH help with naps when he's home? I left C with DH yesterday (only for 1 hr to grocery shop)...came home to C screaming and DH trying to get him to sleep, unsuccessfully (DH's fault...C was unswaddled). Trying to get DH to understand that it's really important that he can soothe C since he'll have to go in there MOTN when we start CIO in a few months.
ETA: It took me less than 10 minutes to get C down for that nap yesterday.

lol sounds like our H's are the same. I basically don't leave him alone with the kids often. He is getting better but he gets frustrated fast if they're screaming. If my mom watches them I know she has the same trouble and usually ends up holding them to get them to sleep. I have to bounce and pat them a lot to get them to calm down. H thinks they are ok to cry and doesn't realize at this age they don't get what that means.

LOL, yes sounds about right! Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone! DH gets frustrated with his screaming and just puts him on the playmat or bouncy and thinks it'll just go away. It kind of pisses me off because I wish he would just hold him/soothe him. At least he tried yesterday...that was a step in the right direction. I also have to bounce and pat like crazy...it's ridiculous and everyone thinks it's funny (my dad and aunt have taken pictures of me on the exercise ball bouncing C) but it's the only thing that works. I cannot wait til he can soothe himself and put himself to sleep...I will have so much more free time and actually get stuff done!
