After the fall/winter 2T fiasco, I've held off on buying anything for spring/summer until this week.
What do you aim for in amounts as far as clothing in the summer? We seem to go through more each day than we do in the winter due to things like getting wet, cooler evenings, etc.
I'm thinking:
10 shorts/skorts 15 tops 5 leggings 3 dresses 2 bathing suits (1 is for my parents' place) Mscellaneous Shoes (I have some Keens and Toms already from sales) 1 jacket
Too little? Too much? Just right?
Also, are there any annual sales coming up that I should wait for?
For DD2 I am hitting up a big consignment sale in April. For 9 and 12m clothes I am aiming for 5-6 sleepers 8 ss onesies 4-6 rompers 4-6 pants a few dresses a few "outfits" aka not daycare stuff.
I think that sounds about right. I prefer not to do laundry more than once per week so I like to have a week's worth of outfits plus back-ups (assuming dresses aren't fancy, I consider those outfits/back-ups) - so about 14 outfits total. I'll likely also do two swimsuits, one rain jacket, one hoodie/cardigan, and two pairs of shoes (one pair of sneakers/sneaker-style Mary Janes and one pair of Keens or water shoes).

I think I have way more but I haven't done an exact count. I feel like we always need more summer clothes, it's so hot here and we are outside more to get dirty. She will also be starting daycare, so I think we'll be going through more clothes. I also have way more dresses (kind of up to wear Pugz was when she posted that picture ; )
I have no idea where to even start for summer clothes for DD. She has 1 pair of skirt overalls, 2 shorts sets (one is 3 pc with a matching hoodie), 3 dressy dresses, 2 more casual ones, 1 romper, 1 jacket and a handful of cotton sleepers in a size 12 months. She had on a brand new, tags just cut off before I washed it on Thursday, 9 months outfit yesterday, and my mom said it wasn't going to fit much longer (and she was right). She had on a 6 months St. Patrick's Day themed pants/onesie set the day before and it was a bit... form fitting, but the onesie snapped ok and the pants went to her ankles. 12 month fleece sleepers are only a tad too long, but size 18 months for 3-5 months from now seems huge for a 9 month old-1 year old baby.
DD's 6 month appointment is tomorrow so we will see how big she is, lol. DH and I set the over/under at 18lb.

We haven't done a ton a dresses so far. I tend to put her in shorts and tees.

One thing I definitely am scaling back on this year is shoes. I am buying her saltwater sandals, one pair in gold that match everything, one pair of tennis shoes for daycare, and one pair of white dress shoes. I am embarassed to say how many shoes she had last summe

I have a weakness for summer dresses I bought a bunch last summer at the end of the season and we have many occasions this summer to wear them, so oh well!
I'm aiming for something similar. 5 skorts (already own) 8 or so shorts (need to get) 15 or so shirts (we have maybe 6 or so from last summer that still fit) a few dresses and bike shorts leggings (I already have these) 2-3 swim suits. My kid is going to camp this summer so I'd like to have a few I can rotate. keen's and sneakers. I think the dress sandals from last summer still fit. hoodies and sweaters for cooler mornings are helpful too. We also need all new underwear but she can wear all her PJ year round so I can put that off until fall or winter.
FWIW dresses are awesome and cute but they become less practical as your gets more active. Skorts and tunics/tights are better than a long dress for an active kid.
what type of PJs do you guys use for summer? pants and SS shirt? shorts and SS? pants and LS? i don't know why this is so hard for me lol.
We do the same year round -- cotton LS shirt and pants. The temps inside our house are about the same. I think I have 1 pair of sheet shorts which I got for summer PJ day.

I think your list looks good. It's similar to mine, except I have way more dresses. I love spring/summer dresses for myself and DD. It's all I put her in on the weekends.
How many and what type of clothes are people buying for babies?
My kids will be 6-9 months this summer. For day care did your kids still wear the standard onesies & pants? I was thinking with the a/c going it might be too cool to do shorts, but wasn't sure.

My kid was that age during the summer. I sent her in pants because of the a/c. She wore short sleeve onesies and pants all summer. I also had several shortsleeve/long pant rompers that she wore.
At home she wore sleeveless dresses, bubble style rompers, and onesies. Once she started crawling I had to stop the dresses because she got tangled up in them so we were pretty much exclusively in onesies and bubble rompers.
Consider how often you will be playing outside. Toddlers can get really dirty really quickly. They're kind of like dogs - they find mud and want to roll in it.
Add in how often you do laundry, and you can guesstimate how many outfits you should have.
FML, I have a muddy yard, a dog, and a toddler who adores said dog. I better stock up.

I loved putting my LO in rompers at that age. They look so cute and they're not incomplete looking like onesies. We don't crank the SC but you can always slide pants on over rompers if necessary.
We have so many clothes for O. Between hand me downs, gifts, and my own consignment shopping, I could not do laundry for at least a month every season. I refuse to count all of them. I have stopped keeping clothes I don't like in the closet/drawers so that it looks like I have less...
