I thought it would happen to us but it didn't. We were in size 6's starting at 18-20 months. Maybe earlier. I can't remember exactly, but she stayed in them until she potty trained at 3. Pampers does make a size 7 though.
DS was in 6s for a long time, from 18-24 months I think. But yes he did outgrow them, at around 34lbs IIRC. Pampers makes a size 7, which DS did wear from 24-30 months (2.5yo). We then switched to pull-ups during the day and GoodNites at night. He's still wearing those at age 3. We've taken a break from PTing until after DD is born.

Good to know there's a size 7, but I will try not to stress yet. I keep hearing that he is going to start to gain inches and not pounds and I keep waiting for it to happen!
I swear DS has gotten skinner as he's grown up. There's hope! His current size 5's have always been a little big on him. But lately it seems like we're having to fasten them tighter.

I thought DS1 would because he was a late potty trainer and he's a tall, solid kid. He trained before he totally outgrew them, but he still has to wear a pullup at night. We use Underjams which go up to 85ish lbs. Hopefully, he'll be night trained before then!
DD didn't potty train until just before three and she was in the sixes for awhile. The nighttime versions also hold much more than the daytime of the same size. Good luck!

My middle didn't potty train until almost 4 and is a big girl. She was in 5s before her 1st birthday, 6s by 2, then had a huge growth spurt and slimmed out so much around 3 that she went back to 5s until she was done with diapers. I was really stressed that she was going to outgrow the size 6s, but she didn't!

But we've been in size six for a loooong time. DS is just finally potty training to where we can see the end is near. He is 3 years, 4 months. His sister was potty trained at 2 1/2. Boys!

DS1 is 2.75yo, 38lbs, and still in Huggies size 6. At night he wears Huggies Overnite size 6 with a diaper doubler insert. They're a bit tight but work for now. He has very little interest in PTing so hopefully we can last a little longer.

There are also diapers available for kids who can't be potty trained for some reason. You'd have to probably get them from a medical goods online store- but they exist.
And change brands and you may be surprised with more space or different shape. We changed from pampers 6 to Huggies 6 and had more space and my kid has been 90th percentile if not more since birth.
