All of the sudden, in the past week or two, my two year old is afraid of almost everything. She has always been afraid of other people but now it has escalated. She is now scared of our dog, several of her toys, the decor in her room, the clothes in her closet, some of the cartoons she watches, etc. She is also scared of things that aren't there (she keeps saying "scary lion!").
The past couple nights she has been taking forever to go to sleep and then also waking up screaming in the middle of the night. Last night it took an hour and a half to get her down and then she was up from 1am to 5 am. I am home with her during the day and at least half of the day is spent clinging to me because she is scared of something (half of the time I can't even figure out what is so scary to her). Nothing has happened to cause this that I know of. Is this just a normal phase? Anything I can do to help her with this?
Omg we're going through this too! Dd is 2 years and 4 months. Her latest is that she's afraid of the dog hair. We have a golden retriever!
I've been working with her to reach out and touch the things that make her afraid. So touch the dog hair. Throw it away if its bothering you. Maybe helps our dd challenge her fears?
She is scared of the elephant pictures hanging in her room. I tried to get her to touch it after nap today and she completely freaked out. I guess maybe for now I will take them down. Two weeks ago she was obsessed with the same pictures, she loved them. Definitely illogical, lol.
