I'm trying to make some small changes... Anyone have a recommendation for reusable sandwich bags? I'm not opposed to paying a little more for a good quality product that is easy to wash and works well.
I think it's just preference. I like the hard sided containers better for most things, even fruit & veggies or anything "wet." I would use the reusable sandwich bags for crackers, veggie straws, etc. The upside to the bag is that it's likely a Velcro closure and one handed, maybe easier for younger ones?
These would actually be for DH and I. We send Dd's lunch in various hard containers. Sounds like it could get gross quickly since the items are wet. Maybe I will finish out this year with what we have and find a better system for next year.
I use cheapo plastic containers for all of Gs lunch because I hate using ziplocs that are just going to be tossed after 2 hours. Go to the dollar store and get 4 smallish ones
They're fantastic. I don't use them for sandwiches for fear of them being smashed, but I use them for snacks, fruit, most other things. They make sandwich sizes and if an adult is using it I think the fear of being smashed is minimal. I rinse them out or pop them in the dishwasher if they're really dirty. Ours have held up for years.

We have lunch skins from target and are happy with them. They're dishwasher safe and the girls have no trouble using them. We use Tupperware for anything that's wet and the baggies for sandwiches and dry snacks.
I use Ziploc bags for stuff like that, and I wash, dry and re-use them. I get the freezer bags, though, so they're pretty sturdy.
Just be careful not to use hot water on that kind of cheap plastic, it leaches like crazy. That goes for the dollar store containers too, avoid the dishwasher.

Yeah, it's pretty much foods that are dry or non-sticky, so they just need a quick wash with warm water, a bit of detergent and a good rinse. I always have ziplocs perched over glasses in my sink drying - lol!
Like others, I always prefer to use small plastic or stainless steel containers and I find the reusable bags annoying to wash. Plus things tend to get crushed or mushed.
But I may give the lunchskins a try if they really are dishwasher safe.
I'm still out of plastic bags so today I took everything in an entree sized gladware container. I think I will buy a few ziplocks to have on hand for trips out, but it wasn't as bulky as I thought it would be.
For the adults we just use glass for everything. DH takes a bag full of glass containers to work every day - leftovers, small ones w/ nuts, carrots, etc.
I wish I could send glass w/ the girls. I know I could get stainless but it's pricey for what I want and I am weird - I don't like that it's not translucent or clear. Skeeves me out for some reason.
I actually made my own out of PUL from a diaper project. I put a zipper on top and those are my favorite.
I did this too. A few are leftover PUL, a few are cotton with a waterproof lining. I did velcro instead of zipper so DS could open them easier. I love them. I turn them inside out and throw in the laundry or rinse out in the sink.
