We had ds2's first birthday party yesterday which was great except there were too many people in my cramped house and ds1, who skipped his nap, was cranky and crying most of the day.
Today is not so great. On top of the mess that we're trying to clean, the kids both went to bed super late (flamefully late) and they're a hot mess this morning.

I was so sick yesterday. I managed to skip the puking part of the flu that both kids had, but I did have a fever and no appetite. I was able to send Nods to my parent's house for the day, which helped a ton. But it's hard being sick with a sick baby when you are nursing. Especially when Chase only wanted to be held while I was standing and my back hurt and I felt weak.
Fortunately today is much better and I can function again.
Were attempting J's second haircut today. The first was a disaster. We're trying a different salon too.
DDs second haircut went much better than the first. She still cried but she actually sat there so I counted it as a win. Hope this one is better for you also!
6 weeks pp and my insomnia is back. It's awful to not be able to sleep knowing what sleep you will get is severely limited.
I guess I will call the doc tomorrow to see if there's anything I can take. I don't need much usually, I took half a tab of unisom during pregnancy and before that used a tiny dose of trazadone and melatonin. Even Tylenol pm is s bit more than I need. I really hope there's something.
Try magnesium supplements. These worked wonders when I had pregnancy insomnia.
DD is at a birthday party, DH is home to watch DS and I can't find my glasses to work. Waaaaaa! My eyes are going to fall out of my head from all the squinting, or I am going to get the most massive headache ever.
If you were my glasses, where would you be? My home is not that big!
J has truly been playing by herself for ten minutes. So amazing. DH and I have both noticed she tends to do characters of baby and mama (especially when she has a big stuffed animal and littler version). We are encouraging her to think of the bigger one being daddy but it is strange since dh does 50% parenting. Is tv already indoctrinating her to cultural norms?
idk, around that age dd1 became really aware of gender differences and extremely preferential of females in her toys, characters etc. she had two identical loveys and decided one was a boy and one was a girl ("girl white lovey" and "boy white lovey or just Girlwhite and Boywhite) and refused to play with the boy one. She still rarely touches Boywhite.
She didn't watch a lot of TV and H and I are pretty equal in parenting duties.
In the 9 years we have been together I have never seen H cry until last night. His grandpa requested a DNR and is refusing to eat, all he keeps asking about is if his wife is ok.
Just doing whatever he wants to do today though I want to get a workout in. I cleaned and grocery shopped this morning while he slept in.
I am sitting in a hotel bar drinking, alone. I don't even know what I am drinking but the bartender asked me to trust him and it is delicious. One more hour until my car service arrives to take me to my next hotel. I am pacing myself so that I'm not wasted on the car ride. It is so depressing being all alone in Paris, seriously. I went to Mass at Note Dame and went and took one million bad selfies at the Eiffel Tower and then I called it quits and started drinking.

any update? Is your H back in the US? Was there a loud pop when he pulled his head out of his ass?

Oh hugs to you! Sundays in Paris are hard because so much is closed. Are you leaving the city or staying on? Go get yourself some nice crepes on the Rue de Montparnasse (just off Blvd du Montparnasse in the 14th) if you want some comfort food. Creperie du Quimper is my favorite one on that street. Or if you want something a little more upscale (but not crazy expensive), head to Les Garçons on rue du cherche midi. I think they're open all day on Sunday, but may close after brunch service (I can't remember).

Keep drinking.
He should land in the US in about 2 hours. I will expect to get some updates then. He did apologize last night but I am still waiting for the loud pop.

I know, so much is closed and it sucks. I am headed to the Hilton at CDG tonight then taking a shuttle to Chantilly in the morning for 3 days for a business event. Then back to The outskirts of Paris for more business for a couple days before I fly home on Saturday. I did have a Nutella crepe near the Eiffel Tower which was pretty good. Honestly I don't have much of an appetite. Maybe the Hilton will have decent food options for dinner. Thanks for the recs though!!

I had one of those moments in target today where I wanted to die of embarrassment. Dd threw an epic fit, wouldn't sit in the cart, screamed and threw herself down in the middle of the aisle, I had to pick her up and carry her screaming, and I'm 34 weeks pregnant. Ugh, I would have just left, but I desperately needed groceries and have no other time to go, dh was home sick

Trying to put dd down for an early nap, I think she's getting 2 yr molars and so whiny. Too bad this afternoon our neighborhood is having a spring festival with egg hunts and petting zoo . I hope she pulls herself together!
I'm so ready to give up on consignment sales. The last couple I've been to are total busts--people price their stuff way too high and the quality control is nonexistent. I went to one this morning where a used 3T Baby Gap polo was priced at $7, no discount for half price day, with obvious wear on it. People are insane. I can get NWT for cheaper if I watch sales.
jene Did you get any MommyCon VIP tickets to anything?
I did not. I tried to get on right at 9 this morning, but no luck. I tried again about 15 minutes later and I couldn't get in. I am really disappointed with the organization of it all.
Ticketmaster accidentally posted info on a Phish show for their upcoming summer tour that should be announced Tuesday. The show is in LA on July 25, and last night H agreed to come with me. I'm pretty excited, he saw them with me once before in 2009, but he didn't like them much then (I have worn him down over the years and he loves them now) plus they are WAY better now than they were 6 years ago. It will be fun to share one of my favorite experiences in the world with him!

This is why I stick with one. Most price accordingly and everyone discounts.
N has been at my parents since Friday. My house is clean, I drank two nights in a row, slept in, and the house is clean. Oh, and DH and I went for a 7.5 mile hike yesterday. My parents are having a blast with him, so I don't feel guilty at all.
I am enjoying watching the Pens get their asses handed to them and fall apart! @mrswindycity Velar Fricative
I plugged in the second baby monitor (for DD) to let it charge before she arrives. DS is napping, so his monitor is turned on, sitting on the adjacent table, also charging. Good god, who the fuck decided that the monitors needed to BLINK when they're charging?! Between the two blinking green lights it's like a rave in here, and it's not even dark yet!
I finally pulled the trigger on the fridge last night after waffling about color (SS vs Stainless Platinum - smudge proof) because the SP looks gold on the website and I couldn't find anything that was that actual color in the store. But I really wanted the SP because I have a toddler and hate cleaning.
Well, I finally READ the website and the description states that it looks just like SS but is smudge proof. Too bad I wasted like 3 days trying to figure that out.
It's 3 cu ft smaller (17.5 cu ft) than our current one, so I'm a little nervous about losing space, but hoping that the french doors make up for it!
I want to get a rug for our living room and be done with it but I am having SUCH a hard time figuring out what color to get.
Me too. We have lived here for over 2 years and still have no living room rug. :/
I keep having sporadic contractions, like they really, really hurt and last for a good 60 seconds. But then they stop, so I'm not in labor. Get it together, body. Either keep me comfortable or get this baby OUT.
I love being pregnant for five minutes and getting a letter saying I need to pay $1600 at my next visit or $275 a month for the next six months, or seek care elsewhere. God bless America, lol.
Is that pre payment for delivery? I never heard of that before. I just got a bill for my ob services at my 6 week checkup.
