He's a small animal vet now turned, corporate rep who does trainings for a pharm company. Great. He's smart he's wise. Whatever. My MIL went to visit over the weekend and was telling him about DSs rash and how it was a shot reaction to the MMR and the amox.
He tries to argue with my MIL about how that isn't the case. About how amox. doesn't do that. About how MMR doesn't cause rashes because it's not a live virus.
He suspects food allergy (which he **Thinks** that's the reason for 98% of what's wrong with his kids when it isn't.)
He then CALLS ME to "discuss" the idiodicy of my pedi this morning.
Umm.....thanks. I just said, "Whatever it is. We're better now. Don't worry about it."
I trust my pedi. He's pretty good at what he does. I believe what he tells me. He hasn't fooled me yet. I did what he said and it fixed his rash so I have no reason to believe otherwise.
Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. You are a vet. Not a pediatrician.
And you lost me at not a live virus. I thought that was pretty common knowledge. I mean it says right on the handout at the pedi "since MMR is a live virus XYZTRY may occur." Not so smart for a vet now are you? Ha.
Thanks for making me feel like a bad mom. And sometimes TBH I don't always really care WTH is wrong with my kids in science terms. Just fix it so we all get happy again.
Hs sister is the same way. She's a nurse in a post-op outpatient surgery ward. You'd think she was a brain surgeon sometimes.
I decided I'm going to start touting the benefits of dairy to them and pointing out what I think is wrong with their kids from an educational standpoint.
I think you're on to something. You should probably do some unsolicited phone calls to offer educational and dairy related advice, just in case.
I know right?! Shut up already. I get you're into medical things. Awesome. You don't need to throw it out every chance you get. Esp. since you work with animal drugs and not people drugs (which to be fair often times are the same) but it still does not a pedi make.
You probably wouldn't see it on an animal. What with the fur.
Fun fact: Cows can get rashes to certain medicines too. It shows up just like a human rash. It's freakishly interesting. I've only seen it once or twice but it does happen. Does that make me a pedi now? I mean I know something about animal meds? I also read about it on the internet.
Right! Amox rash is a pretty common thing with or without the backstory.

LOL, I'm pretty sure my dad has contemplated just treating himself with cow drugs.
I think we've kept it to amateur vet-ing the barn cats.

I literally spit my coffee out. For real.
You know how many barn cats I've dutifully treated and successfully saved with my amateur vet skills? Tons. I'm actually quite proud of that skill. There's also a drug used in cows to induce labor for a medical reason/struggle that's basically the same as the human version. You know how many jokes come back to me about that...lol.
And food allergies bc of an amox rash, huh? Rashes from amoxicillin are not at all unheard of. What's the saying, when you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras?
You can handle all levels of crazy with grace because I would not have been so polite.
How bad is it that he said MMR is not a live virus when in fact, we all KNOW that it is. Ugh.
Eh...he's decently nice all around and fun to hang out with when he's not practicing "doctor" lol. For the sake of family harmony I just do a lot of "oh." Not worth the battle.
