I EP. Recently DS has been crying after he finishes a bottle at 11 am and 2 pm. Sometimes both, sometimes 1 of the feedings (the rest of the day/night he is fine). He gets 125 ml at those feedings which we just increased from 100 ml since they dropped a MOTN feeding. He will cry and cry and is satisfied if I feed him another ounce, but then about 30 minutes later he will spit up, and he has never been a spit up baby. I don't think he truly needs that food, just doesn't realize he is full. What can I do? I've read up on paced bottle feeding and feel like I'm following that right. He takes about 10 minutes to eat. Should I stop after each ounce and let him cry a minute and then eat more? This just recently started this past week when he started skipping the 530 am feeding.
My baby is younger, but we tend to stop in the middle a few times and burp him. He likes it and it seems to help him from getting crazy and trying to eat too fast.
I also give him a pacifier right after he eats. That seems to help with the crankiness.
Ok I'll just offer it if he cries and deal with the clothes mess I do feel like his body is starting to get ready for solids. We planned to wait until 6 months since they were preemies and they just hit 5 months last week.
My experience is basically what @tambcat said - DD got significantly more spitty around 5 months when she became increasingly mobile. I'd just try the extra ounce and deal with the spit up - hopefully it's only temporary!
