We snoozed too many times because the kids were still asleep, so I left the house almost 20 minutes late. Got to daycare and had to snap pics of the kids in their St Patrick's Day outfits, so that added 5 minutes. THEN they started construction of a median barrier on the toll bridge on my way to work. The 2-lanes-each-way busy bridge is now 1 lane each way for the next 2 months, and it added 15 minutes to my commute while I sat stopped on the bridge in traffic swaying in the wind. I normally don't mind the bridge, but feeling it sway makes me reallllly nervous. A gale warning goes into effect this afternoon, so it's going to be even worse on the way home Bad morning.
My high school changed it's mascot from the Redskins to the Redhawks. I have been following the drama all over my fb page and the alumni page constantly. I can't believe how some people are acting like their lives are over.
Both my high school and my college are/were the Redskins. High school is still the Redskins, college switched to RedHawks a few years before I attended. And yup, people are assholes.
OMG I still feel off. It's like I'm in a fog. And I have too much work to do.
DH didn't go into work early and getting E up and ready was a mess. Instead of backing off and letting me get her dressed he keeps pushing and she freaks and breaks down. Fun times.
Also my kid barely has any green clothes, so her outfit is kind of crazy today. Oh well.
I'm exhausted. I'm out of practice with all the overnight wake ups and had to be up wrestling a kid that hates breathing treatments at midnight and then four. So I was up for a while after each and I am dragging now. Yesterday I was completely useless so I think I'm just going to drink allllll the coffee today and try and get it together.
DD has dance and then I think we'll run a few errands before the baby's doctor appointment this afternoon. I really need to get him another pair of shoes. I have tons and tons of hand me downs from DS1 and my nephew but his little fat foot isn't cooperating. Right now I'm squeezing him into a single pair of sperrys but I'd like something for summer/spring. I bought him some cheap sandals at gymboree off season but, they require him to sit still for a second and that's not happening so I think we're off to stride rite to spend a million dollars. I had a SR pair with DS1 that I loved but the seasons aren't lining up so they're already too small for DS2.
Also, I've been wanting to replace all the sick carpet in this house since we moved in and I think DS2's apparent asthma is going to be the real push to do it now. I still pull dog hair from the previous owner out of it whenever I vacuum, that can't be helping things. And if we're going to get new carpet, I'd like to be able to air it out for a few days with the windows open. Which means spring.

You guys, time is flying and my baby (well, the kindergartner) is getting all grown up and its making me have all kinds of FEEEEEEElings. In the car on the way to school this morning, he was talking about St Patrick's day and how remember when he was in preschool, the leprechaun came to their class while they were at recess? And I was thinking how that was a year ago and it feels like just yesterday and where has the time gone and he is going to be graduating college and moving out before I know it.
ANd I forgot it was St Patrick's Day until we were all dressed, so no one is wearing green. Oops.
congrats gravytrain225! I missed your post yesterday.
Last night we decided to officially go under contract to build our next house. Then this morning my DH sends me a link of another house for sale we might want to go look at. This is killing me.
We got back from India last night and E is starting at his new daycare today. I am sure that he is going to be a hot mess, but he is acting totally normal now. I cannot believe I have to go to work. I am so out of it.
My husband randomly called my FIL when we landed to say hi and he told us he was on his way to our house for the night since he was driving through town on the way to a funeral. He is the nicest, most easy person ever, but really?! We got home and an hour later were hosting an overnight guest.
DD slept in and was super cranky when she woke up. I bribed her with a "St Patrick's Day surprise" after daycare to get her dressed and out of the house fast enough. (MOTY, I know.) Sooooo...ummmm...I get off work at 3:00. She gets home at 5:00. That's enough time to bake cookies, right? I can save frosting them until she gets home if I need to. I think I'd prefer cookies to just buying green plastic crap from the dollar store...

This happened when my HS went from the Indians to the Hawks. It was the talk of town for months. Small town living.
@mrsbecky-we had to strip (on average) every 3-4 months. It sucks but even with the work/water, the savings over disposables was worth it.
DS was so much fun yesterday. We went out to DQ to get our free cones and he was so excited. It was the perfect day here for it too. Babies<<<<<<<<<Toddlers.
So my neighbor who is an RE agent was telling me how the Marijuana people are buying up all the real estate. They operate in cash & since it's federally illegal, banks are not allowing them to put the money there. So her buyers are getting beat out consistently with all cash offers, even with no appraisals. The prices & rents are getting crazy high. The pot shop down the street pays $20k/mo rent for a pretty shitty space according to her. How do I get one as a tenant...lol. I never really thought of the consequence of all this craziness.
Wait, wait, hold on. I totally need to do this. They just made it legal in DC. How can I market to this type of tenant? I bet they would ALWAYS pay their rent unlike my dead beat who we are trying to evict for the 3rd time.
I forgot is was St Patty's day. I am wearing my normal uniform of black and grey today. I dare anyone to try and pinch me..............

We have easter pictures being done with morning. I'm at my parents and they are being taken by someone starting out that I know through a friend. Our newborn photographer is offering the same package where we live. The difference $400. Same time and digital rights!?
Praying it works out well. It takes my oldest a while to warm up to new people. Hopefully he smiles!
My H informed me that he has decided to write a book. Not a book that will make any money, in fact we'll likely lose money, but he thinks it's the best path to making full professor. I told him the dedication better be a sappy love-fest to me.
After @notquiteblushing posted about The Girl on the Train last night, 3 different friends mentioned it on FB. I am now number 103 on the holds list - I may just break down and buy it.
I'm officially losing my mind with the sleep deprivation. E keeps making noises but not seeming like he needs anything yet so I'm just laying here awake. I wish H's job wasn't being stupid and would let him work from home again. He apparently wasn't getting enough done but the system is slower when you remote in and he was also covering for other people that whole week so of course he's not getting as much done. It had nothing at all to do with the minor distractions of making a bottle here and there. Seriously, paternity leave needs to be a thing. It bothers me a lot that the mom is expected to do everything from the beginning when she is physically and mentally not 100%. Ugh. Maybe I can attempt to nap today.

Alumni of my HS are still mad - we switched from the Indians to the Penguins like 20 years ago and peopel are still ticked. Penguins is cute though because we were a Catholic girls school with a convent on the 4th and 5th floors so the Penguins were for the nuns. Indians WAS pretty bad, especially since our mascot was a senior girl who dressed up like an indian and ran around "whooping" during games. (PDQ) but it made sense in a way because our high school name was IND, so we called ourselves INDians....but I know I know, still bad. But it wasnt like the mascot came from nowhere.
i think penguins are cuter though lol.
Did you try new inserts at all? I hear that works for some folks but obviously more expensive

I'm losing my mind over here. The older girls will.not.stop.fighting. I'm trying to get everyone out of the house for a class at the zoo and I'm having to continually break up fights. On top of that, the baby is crying because she wants to eat. I keep shoving puffs at her until I can get a chance to grab a jar of baby food for her.
I feel like we're never going to make it out of the house this morning
OMG I am SO TIRED. I took a two hour nap at B's bedtime last night. Then I went to bed for real after two hours of eating/watching tv. So I got plenty of sleep. Yet when I heard him wake up this morning I was like "holy shit it must be 6 a.m." It was, in fact, 7:40. I skipped showering because I couldn't bear the thought of standing up for that long. 14 more weeks. (huh)

How did you do it? with hot water in the bathtub? thats why I tried last time and it seemed to work okay. I'd like to avoid that this time if possible.
i know part of the issue is daycare slathers him with A&D so I bought CD-safe diaper cream to take in (the bottom balm stuff from Earth Mama, thats good right?)
We boiled water and dumped it in the washer so it was about half full-then filled the rest with the hot water setting on our washer. Added some blue Dawn, ran through 1 complete wash cycle with an extra rinse, then 2-3 more rinse cycles. We used mostly prefolds, so proceed with caution if you have AIOs/anything with PUL.
Yes-EMAB Bottom Balm is good. We used that regularly on DS, especially overnight.
I dropped DD off at daycare this morning, and when I took her out of her carrier there was poop all the way up her back. Our daycare lady noticed before I did. I hope she doesn't think I brought her poopy. She must have done it in the car. I handed her off and was all "okay have a great day, thanks. Sorry for the mess" and hightailed it outta there. Should I have offered to change her? DH says no.
