C just turned 12 weeks old on Sunday (3 months old this coming Sat). He started biting while nursing two days ago. He's been extra fussy but could be due to lack to sleep (his night sleep has been bad since DST) and naps are still horrible (have been since birth). He's drooling but I hear that's common right about now. Puts his thumb fist in his mouth all the time but has been for a couple weeks. Also, he tried to put my finger in his mouth last night so I gave it to him and he bit down...did the same with a teether. I'm not 100% confident that he's teething because it seems too early. I wanted to give him Tylenol last night to see if he would sleep better but DH vetoed just in case he's just being fussy and not really in pain. WDYT?

L started drooling like crazy and gnawing on everything at about three months but didn't get his first tooth until almost 6 months. That being said, just before he got his first tooth he did start clamping down while nursing. He has done that for all 6 of his teeth. About a week or two period of biting before a new tooth pops through and then an uncomfortable latch for awhile before returning to normal for a week or two, then rinse and repeat. It sucks big time. It does seem early but it's not totally unheard of either.

Drooling and chewing on everything were things DD did for months before she actually teethed, so that might not mean anything. However, the only times she bites while nursing are the week or so before she cuts a tooth. One thing that helps is to pay attention to when she's almost done eating - when it turns to more "snacking" instead of full blown eating, she tends to chomp down more. Hopefully his biting is short-lived; it sucks, I know!

the biting is awful. Dd was doing it for a few weeks then four upper teeth came it. She just started doing it again last night and I really hope it doesn't mean more teeth are coming in, we just go through the last four!
