They live in TN. They have 19 kids and are friends with the Duggas, except unlike the Duggars they can't afford that many kids and instead rely upon my taxpayer dollars to feed and provide health care.
Of course the only Bates I think of now is from Downton Abbey. And what is it about him anyway? I think it's the eyes.... I think I have a crush....lol.

They actually had at least one or two episodes of this that aired maybe 6 months ago? To be honest, they bothered me less than the Duggars. There seems to be a bit more individuality with them and I find Gil and Kelly more likeable than JimBob and Michelle, who seems a touch overmedicated these days.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

If you have amazon prime, you should watch Lark Rise to Candleford. LOOOOOOOOOOTS of Mr Bates. Except he's Mr Timmins.

I think that with both families, the girls are not going to be as encouraged to get married off as precious Joshie was. Think about it, those girls are the ones who are really taking care of every poor child that shoots out of the slip and slide. No way would their parents want to give up all that free childcare and have to actually parent their children themselves.

I just saw them on the Today Show on Wednesday and they were talking about them as though they were financial geniuses because they have no credit cards and pay for everything in cash. Apparently they neglected to mention that it is government-issued cash.

OH! Funny you should mention that show because that is exactly what the husband and I are netflixing. :-)
Oh yay!! I love it so much even if Dorcas gets on my nerves now and then.
We just finished episode 5 (or 6?) about the Post Office audit. I struggled through the first few episodes, but it's starting to get very good. The episode about the Pratt sisters and their father was the turning point for me. Where are you at?
I agree the first couple of episodes weren't very strong and were only on tv because I could follow along while sewing/knitting without paying too much attention. But once we moved away from Caroline's annoying ass, it really picked up.
I thought I heard some Duggar boy was eyeing a Bates??
IMO, the girls are smart and aren't just gonna go marry off to some sleazy car dealership owner. They can sit in their rich parents house and take their time.
that's my feeling. Good for them- finding a way to make some money.
IMO it's less a good thing, and more rewarding them for jackassery.
I guess I figure that a government assistance program that will continue to support a family that cannot take care of their dozens of children is rewarding their negative behavior. Them finally figuring out a way to take care of their children on their own is the opposite IMO.
Not saying it's a good thing to continue to have children when you can't support them, just that this seems to be the system's fault in this case. I wonder if they would have stopped if the government didn't enable them with all of the assistance.
I don't think I agree with having your own reality TV show as "having success" or affording your lifestyle or however you wanna say it. They last for what? 5 years? Then what? It's a windfall of sorts, sure, but you are still gonna need to have a job and other sources of income. And those shows can hurt your reputation and so your career.
I wonder if they are going with the Bates cuz the Duggars are done having kids?!?!?!?

This is where I sit. Mama duggar doesn't have to do shit. No way is she going to want to cook, clean, change diapers if the older girls were to leave.
